New Mexico Association of Small Brewers

The New Mexico Association of Small Brewers is a non-profit organization formed in January of 1996 for the sole purpose of promoting the business of brewing in the State of New Mexico. The industry has grown from 3 breweries in 1988 to 22 in 1998. These brewers bring fine hand-crafted beer to the citizens and visitors of the Land of Enchantment in its pure and unadulterated form. They are also responsible for the rebirth of a hundred and thirty year-old tradition of brewing in this state.
The NMASB helps promote the industry by holding a New Mexico Brewers Festival at least once a year to increase the public's awareness of another fine "Made in New Mexico" product. The NMASB is also active in protecting the rights of Small Brewers to practice their trade in the State without undue restriction under the law.
The New Mexico Small Brewers have made impacts in many ways. The industry helped in preserving, renovating, and redeveloping neighborhoods and important commercial buildings. Several breweries are located in rural areas of New Mexico and create much needed employment. Our breweries actively promote the State of New Mexico and tourism by exporting New Mexico beers and by playing pertinent roles in the hospitality industry.
The New Mexico Small Brewers industry began in 1988. Over the last ten years the industry has grown to have a substantial impact on the New Mexico economy. Today there are:
Š 22 microbreweries and brewpubs in New Mexico

Š Over 2.5 million customers

Š 800-900 New Mexicans employed by our industry

Š $20 - $25 million invested in this industry

Š $20 million in yearly gross sales

Š $1,100,000 in estimated tax revenue for the State of New Mexico

So next time you are out for a meal in one of the many fine restaurants in this state, ask for the local beer from one of New Mexico's microbreweries. Or visit one of the brewpubs to experience first-hand the pleasure of fresh hand-crafted beer and see close up where and how it is made. Remember, support your local brewery!
Thank you for your patience. We are still under construction.
