6/26/00-Limp Bizkit Set Release Date, Push Back Tour, Feud With Creed At KROCK
Limp Bizkit have set their new album "Chocolate Starfish And The Hot Dog Flavored Water" for a tentative September 19th release date on Flip/Interscope. The band announced that the free Back To Basics tour will begin one week later than expected, due to venue issues. Click Here for tour dates

Fred Durst and Creed were part of a feud last weekend at the KROCK Dysfunctional Family Picnic (DFP 4.0) at the PNC Arts Center in New Jersey. Shoutweb's Therese McKeon wrote in from the road with the following:

To start the rumors off right, supposedly, Limp Bizkit called from their limo to say that they were stuck in traffic. They arrived in white limos just as Godsmack was finishing their set. One hour and twenty minutes later Limp Bizkit took the stage. One can only wonder what could possibly delay the band from playing for that length of time.

On the second song into the set, Fred Durst announced, "This song is dedicated to the lead singer of the band Creed". He went on to explain that he saw "the lead singer" backstage and that he was an arrogant asshole (or some similar expletive). The song was "Break Stuff". On song four he announced, "You guys get up! You can sleep when Creed comes out later."

Fast forward to Stone Temple Pilots set. On about the fourth song in, Scott Weiland stops before the song to say something like, "He's a friend of mine and I really like him but I think that Fred Durst was an asshole tonight."

Fast forward to the intro to Creed's set and out comes Robert, an actor from the New York area who plays the son of Tony Soprano in the HBO TV series "The Sopranos". He is known to be a huge Slipknot fan and is donning a Slipknot T-shirt on this occasion. Robert says, "I just wanted to make sure that Fred Durst wasn't the only one speaking his mind tonight. You see, I think Limp Bizkit's first album was pretty good. Then they made a second album that sounded like rap-rock. I think their next album is going to be all rap... It's really a shame that Fred doesn't play rock music anymore because in my opinion there is no better music in the world that rock music!" - not a direct quote but pretty close.

Backstage the rumors were flying. Word had it that Scott Stapp, the lead singer of Creed, made a comment to someone about how Limp Bizkit sat around eating dinner for an hour while the fans waited. (Note: Creed was scheduled to go on last so they would be forced to cut the length of their set.) Reportedly, Limp Bizkit had asked for a later time slot and were not happy that they did not get one. According to KROCK, all of the bands had agreed on their time slots ahead of time. When it comes to rumors, who really knows!

The best story of the day by far was that Scott Stapp (Creed) sent someone to hand Fred Durst a book as a gift. The book was entitled "Anger Management"

As Limp Bizkit got ready to leave the PNC Arts Center, reporters are asking Fred Durst about a lot of things including his comments on stage. Let's just say that I am sure you'll be reading some interesting things in the coming weeks including the fact that Bizkit did not perform their hit "Nookie" and speculation that Sharon Osbourne was ready to pull the power cord on Limp Bizkit if they did not finish up their set. Can't we all just get along?
