Wild Wild West

Night of the Grand Emir, #6518

Agents James West and Artemus Gordon are assigned to protect a Middle Eastern despot from assassination, Emir El Emid, who has survived so many attempts on his life that he no longer worries about such annoyances. The two accompany the Emir to a cafe to watch a can-can dancer named Ecstasy La Joie, who has repeatedly tried to kill the ruler. She gives him her garter but West intercepts just in time, disposing of the item before it explodes. West pursues the dancer but is scratched by her drugged ring and awakes in a straight jacket. Can Gordon find his partner and discover the real identity of the man who wants the Emir dead before it's too late?

Writer Donn Mullally said the concept for The Grand Emir came to him through personal ties. "I had a friend that was a shirt-tail relative to the king of Libya. He had this crazy, mixed up Libyan connection going and it gave me the idea for the story."
