dedicated to all j-rock fans
Whoo! I had lots of fun discussing this with plhu! Hope you liked it!
This fic is a spin-off of Change, about the Psychedelic Stilettos. I know in Change Mikagami wasn't in it, but to take the easy way out, we're just claiming that this story disregards timelines. :P Lazy bums, we are.
in-jokes
- "bum"; what we actually call each other, plhu and I.
- "Footnote Records" was something we came out with after plhu complained that I had this hang-up with footwear. We decided it'd be hilarious to have a music label called "Footnote", with all the bands under the label having some form of footwear in its name.
- "Lucy"; name of one of the members of Silver Ash, the first visual rock band out of China. And yes, this member is male. There's someone called Nancy too, incidentally. And you guessed it. A male member. Innuendo not intended.
- Rasen auditioning was plhu's idea.
- Didn't get the joke for "High Platforms"? "High" could mean "tall", or "happy"; "platforms" as in the shoes or "landings", which could be tall. See, the sheer layering of word play in just two simple words. *smirk*
- plhu has this Ty flamingo called Psychedelic Flame. We'd thought it'd be funny, since for a while, it was batted around that Kurei owned a flaming flamingo.
- The band WAS actually called Psychedelic Sneakers in the original version of Change, but plhu protested it wasn't catchy enough, so she suggested Stilettos, and I changed it. Pun intended.
- Juliaz. Sounds familiar? Check out plhu's fics.
- "Ten Inches High"

- The irritating DJ ("oh yeah oh yeah oh yeah!") was first seen in Masquerade. Check that fic out! Has a pairing that ain't been seen around...
I'm walking 10 inches high / But you can only try
I think I'm being a little mean / But guess who's the one who can't be seen?
had a fun time discussing this with plhu. yes, Ten Inches High was written by us, (me mostly, to tell you the truth), actually has a tune to it, but I ain't gonna sing it. please, even plhu hasn't heard it yet. Psychedelic Stilettos are gonna be cameoing in most of our fics, regardless of whether or not the bandmembers are supposed to be elsewhere in the fic. If you need a visual rock band to add colour (literally) to your fics, Footnote Records would be gratified if you used the Stilettos. Be sure to mention Footnote Records somewhere though! :P The PV is a figment of my imagination, had a great time visualising it.
there's a story behind Ten Inches High, actually. I was toying with it for a fic idea, but later decided to use it for lyrics instead.
In Ten Inches High, one part of a couple is telling his/her partner that they won't be able to make it, 'cos of circumstances or whatever. He/She's being very careless about it, telling the other that, you know, "maybe i'm mean, but you're the one who's way down there." so... we're supposed to get mad with him or something, but later, the last line says, "there's a pain my voice won't show." tada. turns out he does care after all.
hope you liked this spin-off. another fic is in the works, featuring a PS rock ballad. this time, plhu has the credit for lyrics.
the author remains on the search for her lifebond and the perfect coffee blend

I'm feeling 10 inches high / With my head high in the sky
And you're 10 inches low / There's a pain my voice won't show
Story behind Footnote Records
Two girls, Alanna and Spleena, stuck in the pits of financial crisis. They had taken to odd jobs, like waitressing, delivery and make-up (see Masquerade) to try to tide over their need for money. One night, while playing in a live back-up band, the idea of Footnote Records was hatched.
Determined to start Footnote Records off on the right foot, they formed their own two-piece band to get the moolah to start the company. Once they did, they released their own record on Footnote Records for promotion. Soon, indie bands were contacting them for recording contracts. The first band they signed was the Furry Slippers, the grunge rock band that soon rocketed to International Fame thanks to the promotion abilities of Spleena and the management skills of Alanna. Footnote Records then undertook more and more bands, and thus established their name as an indie label powerhouse.
Psychedelic Stilettos is Footnote's 27th signed band.
