Chapter 7
Enna bounded up happily and whacked Sasami on the back. "My turn!" She turned to the audience. "Hello raydance!"
raydance: *waves Mikagami flag back*
plhu: Wha...?
raydance: *shrugs* I adopted her.
plhu: ... Let's bet on how long it'll take for Mikagami to defeat his opponent.
raydance: Let's not. We still have to pay for the air tickets back home.
"Will the fighters of both teams please take their places?" Demi said.
Sakura was fidgeting with impatience. Finally, Mi-chan fights!
Kagerou frowned. I wonder if Mikagami will kill his opponent this time.
Chun Li stepped up to the ring. Biting her lip, she told Mikagami that she really did not want to fight him. Behind Mikagami, Fuuko and Raiha exchanged looks. Demi said, "Wow, Chun Li does not want to fight, does this mean that she is giving up this match? And for what reasons does she not want to fight this match?"
Mikagami snorted. "Afraid that you'll kill me, Chun Li? Not likely. I'll take this as field practice. And I'll even do it without Ensui." Saying so, he stuck Ensui in a corner of the ring. My pride does not allow me to fight an unarmed combatant.
Chun Li then bowed with a troubled look on her face. "It's not that, but since you insist, I will have to fight you."
Saying so, she jumped towards Mikagami with her leg out, trying to kick him. Mikagami dodged the kick easily and threw an uppercut. Repeatedly throwing punches and
kicks, he backed Chun Li into a corner. Chun Li held her arms up to block the various attacks, not really bothering to fight back. Mikagami was getting increasingly annoyed. "Chun Li, you are a member of Team Street Fighter."
She called out "Kouhou Kaiten Kyaku!" and backflipped over Mikagami. He spun around and kicked her with a roundhouse. Caught by the spinning kick, she fell hard onto the ground.
Mikagami stood over her. "As a member of your Team, you are here to fight. When you accepted the invitation, you have promised to fight to the utmost. Chun Li, live up to that promise. You are here for the spirit of the fight."
Chun Li sat up. No, not the spirit of the fight. For revenge. She got to her feet and nodded to Mikagami. "You are right." She smiled. "Mikagami-san, please, pick up your sword, as I will be using my 'chi'. And be considerably different from the first five minutes of this match."
Reluctantly, Mikagami plucked out his sword and held it in front of him. "Are you sure..." he said doubtfully, but was cut short by Chun Li calling "Kikoken!". A burst of energy emerged from her hands, and the ball shot towards Mikagami. It hit him in the torso.
He crashed to the ground a little way ahead, and rolled to his feet. Good. Now she's fighting. He leaped up and brandished Ensui, preparing to swipe it at Chun Li, but she caught him in mid-air by doing a Thousand Burst Kick. Mikagami landed and blocked most of the kicks with difficulty. This is not good, I shall have to call out... He jumped back and held Ensui before him. "The power from the four directions, Tsunami Hebi!" The water snake shot out from his blade, and charged towards Chun Li.
Thinking fast, Chun Li yelled "Kikosho!" and a ball of energy emerged from her fist. Holding the ball of crackling energy up to the snake, it was dissipated, but her kikosho was not enough to destroy the snake entirely. Chun Li got hurt by the remains of the snake. Stunned by the impact, she stood shaking her head. She watched Mikagami out of the corner of her eye.
Without warning, Chun Li flipped herself onto her hands and launched herself into the air. She did a split, and spun horizontally towards Mikagami. Mikagami easily got out of range by jumping back, but she had backed him into a corner. He tried to slash Chun Li with Ensui, but she said "Hazan Tenshoyaku". She ducked Ensui, but as she rose, she gave him multiple kicks. He dodged most of them, but was unable to escape her next move. "Mega Kikosho!"
A huge translucent blue globe of energy surrounded Mikagami and Chun Li. Lightning flashed across the surface of the ball.
"As much as I hate to say this, the globe is beautiful." Kagerou whispered.
Fuuko held her hand up to her mouth. "Mi-chan!" she screamed. Koganei stared at the globe, for once speechless. Recca fell to his knees. "That girl can do that... without madougou!"
plhu: Upping the drama, raydance?
raydance: Shaddup. I'm writing this chapter.
The torture ended. Mikagami was blasted into the air and crashed to the ground. He lay unmoving, bleeding from the various wounds. Enna reluctantly started the countdown.
"1..." Chun Li stood beside Enna. "Mikagami-san... I didn't tell you my reason for coming to the battle."
"2..."
"I am here, for my father."
"3..."
"He was killed... murdered... And I know who the person is."
"4..."
"I am here, to take revenge. And to prevent him from doing anymore damage to anyone else's life."
"5..."
"I am here to kill Bison."
Cammy's fist clenched, while upstairs in Mori's office, Bison watched the fight more carefully.
"6..."
"Forgive me, Mikagami-san. But..." she held back tears, "My father must be avenged." She turned to go.
"Wait." A clear voice rang out. Chun Li spun round to see Mikagami staggering to his feet, supporting himself with Ensui. "This fight is not over."
Pointing his Ensui at Chun Li, he said calmly, "Zetto Reidai." Ice flew out from his blade, and a thin layer of ice built around Chun Li. She froze in her position. He shrugged. "To prevent you from countering. And from moving." He stuck Ensui into the ground and closed his eyes.
"No, Mi-chan! You cannot kill her!" Fuuko screamed from her position.
Recca held her back, but he yelled, "Mikagami, you cannot be so cruel! She is here for her father! Like you are here for Yanagi and my mother! Stop!"
Yanagi covered her eyes. They all knew too well what move Mikagami would call, and the destruction it could cause.
"Is he going to kill her?" Sakura asked Kagerou softly, as if not believing that her beloved Mi-chan could do such a thing.
Kagerou bent her head. "I don't know, Sakura. Mikagami is the only one in Hokage capable of doing so, if he wishes."
They clutched their microphones tightly and waited for the inevitable.
Mikagami opened his eyes. "Tsurara Mai."
Yanagi gave an agonized scream, and Fuuko sat down abruptly. I thought... Mi-chan and Chun Li were friends... Recca made a mental note to strangle Mikagami with Domon later. The spectators were hushed, watching as the scene unfolded before them.
Sakura couldn't bear to watch her team mate so brutally killed.
Chun Li could only watch as icicles raced towards her. I can't even close my eyes. Sorry, Father... I cannot... What the...? Instead of piercing right through her, the icicles built AROUND her, forming a cage that pinned her to her position.
The thin layer of ice around her melted, but still, she could not move. Mikagami yanked Ensui out of the ground and strode towards her. With a flourish, he leveled the tip of Ensui at her throat. Chun Li couldn't breathe. She looked up into his eyes.
He held her gaze for a while before looking to Yanagi, as if for inspiration. Conversationally, Mikagami began to speak. "You said that you are here for your father." He shrugged. "I WAS here before, for my sister. I know what you feel." He stared back into her eyes. "But this time, I am here for Yanagi. And I will not lose this match."
Chun Li closed her eyes, and waited for the deadly slash. After a long while without any sharp edge slicing her throat, she opened them again. Before her eyes, Ensui's blade splashed onto the ground. "And I will not kill you."
Shocked brown eyes met calm blue ones. The corners of his mouth twisted upwards into a wry smile. "Bison is waiting."
Holding the handle of Ensui casually in his hand, he turned and looked expectantly at Enna.
"The referee states that Chun Li is unable to fight anymore, so the winner is, Mikagami Tokiya!" Enna squealed happily.
Back at the commentator's table, Sakura had started a dance with Demi. "I knew he wouldn't do it!" Kagerou was smiling happily at the sight of Mikagami walking away from Chun Li. His heart has melted...
And upstairs at the spectator seats...
raydance: Waii! Mi-chan!
plhu: Hey, you wrote this chapter, right? *obviously still indignant over the fact that Mi-chan won*
raydance: Ahh, just take his win like a woman already. *whacks plhu on head*
Fuuko leaped, punching the air. "Go, Mi-chan!"
Recca was smiling and whacked Mikagami on the back as he walked down the steps. "Hey, Mikagami, finally taking a shine to women, huh?"
Mikagami whacked him back. "That's 'cos the men I associate with are you and Domon." (GHAHAHAHAHA!...raydance) Koganei was cheering happily and Yanagi was smiling.
On the other hand, Team Street Fighter was very still. Ryu turned to look at the seething Cammy whose fist was still clenched. "I hope you aren't going to do anything to Chun Li, Cammy." he said quietly. "She has reason."
He looked at Vega who was helping Chun Li down the steps. "And we are here, as Mikagami so aptly put it, for the spirit of the fight."

raydance bangs her head on the table in despair.
plhu: Anyway, did you notice that your countdown in this chapter is going in the different direction from mine in Guile's fight?
raydance: Really? But I'm POSITIVE it's ascending, 'cos I remember Mi-chan collapsed at '8' the fight with Kai.
