Rhoda Fort and Family

My name is Rhoda Fort. I have lived in the New Orleans area four years with my husband and three children and have previously lived such places as Owasso, Oklahoma and Perryton, Texas.

I was born in Campbellsville, Kentucky in 1959 and am descended from Kentucky families who have inhabited Hardin County, Kentucky since 1797. I lived in Evansville, Indiana from 1967 until 1980 and graduated F.J. Reitz High School in 1977. I received a B.S. in Bio-physics from Indiana State University, Evansville Campus (name now changed to University of Southern Indiana) in 1980. In 1986 I earned a M.S. in Analytical Chemistry from Baylor University.

Frank and I married May 28, 1983 and lived the first few years of our married life in Houston, Texas. From there we moved to Dumas, Texas where our children Barbara and Russell were born. In fall of 1992 our family moved to Farmington, New Mexico. Daniel, our youngest child was born in 1994.

Frank is a graduate from Rose Hulman Institute of Technology and works for Williams Energy Company in La Rose, Louisiana. Frank's hobbies are model railroads (N-scale), war history, and war and strategy computer and board games.

I am a homemaker and have written three unpublished novels. I have also written articles for small publications. I am also a substitute teacher. My hobbies are writing historical romance novels, reading historical romance novels, playing piano, singing folk songs, cooking, politics, and maintaining my web-page. I also have a weakness for Scottish and Irish music and consider myself Dougie Maclean's most devoted fan on this side of the Atlantic. I also enjoy the classic country-western music of Tom T. Hall and Marty Robbins. My favorite web-sites have good historical or scientific content. I have a weakness for Star Trek and consider myself a charter Trekie since I discovered the greatness of Star Trek back in 1970 when I wiled away my summer watching Star Trek reruns. Since I could never get enough of Star Trek, I fed my passion by writing stories about the crew of the Enterprise.

In 1971, my mother introduced me to Victoria Holt, Dorothy Eden, Mary Stewart and Georgette Heyer books. From there began my interest in romance novels. I still enjoy romance novels, and my favorite authors are Catherine Coulter, Mary Balogh, Candice Proctor, and Joan Wolf, just to name a few. I also enjoy the historical/inspirational/fantasy novels of Stephen Lawhead and Julianne Lee. I also enjoy the Christian inspirational novels of Francine Rivers and B. J. Hoff. I have recently started reading the John Rebus mystery novels by Ian Rankin.
