~ Elso Kuvaszok ~

"Hi, I'm Zera, 'Champion Ghosthill's Elso Szerelem', but I don't know that yet.

I'm just 3 weeks old here. Follow me on a quick stroll through my life.

I'm about to have babies of my own (due Feb. 22, 2000) that will only go to

the best of homes, with ooooddles of love and care - maybe yours??"

Welcome to the world of Elso Kuvaszok - which is Hungarian for "First Kuvasz". Our

Ch Ghosthill's Elso Szerelem (Zera), born 5/3/97, was actually our second Kuvasz.

She joined Ghosthill's Destiny in our home in New Mexico. We had fun, hiked the

"moderately strenuous" trail to the top of Mt Taylor when Zera was

4 months old and Destiny 10 years. Zera grew up, started in show training class,

Destiny passed away, then we got serious about showing.

"Zera - 10 wks old, just got here

2 days ago - man it's pretty here in NM."

"Zera - 4 months and Destiny

10 yrs, just before the Mt Taylor hike"

"10/3/98, on her 17 month B-day, Zera's first win, her 4 point major,

Best of Breed over an entry of 6, including a top Champion,

AND she had just blown out the last of her summer coat"

"2/14/99 - Happy Valentine's Day - winning in her fullest winter coat"

"5/31/99 - Happy Memorial Day - We'll surely remember this one:

Her 3rd major win, making her New Champion Ghosthill's Elso Szerelem"

In a breed where it's hard to get those "major" wins, Zera finished with 3 majors (4/3/3

points) and a total of 16 points. We traveled an awful lot that year, but it was worth it.

We met so many wonderful Kuvasz people and explored places we probably wouldn't

have thought of visiting. Zera is our first show dog and we did this all ourselves. No

paid professionals, all owner-handled to her wonderful Championship. THEN:

"12/4/99 Ch Ghosthill's Elso Szerelem takes Best of Breed

over an entry of 11, including the National's Winner's Dog and an

Award of Merit winner!! This win placed her #18 Kuvasz for 99"

Little did she know that even as she took that win, we were making plans for her.

Zera's health clearances had all been done: hips OFA Excellent, PennHIP 0.16/0.16,

the tightest hips of the 41 Kuvasz that had been PennHIP studied; Elbows and Patellas

OFA normal; CERF, vWD and thyroid normal. Zera is 26 1/2 inches at the shoulder,

weighs 90 pounds and moves with athletic fluidity. AND she was coming into season.

12/15/99 we hit the road for No California, to breed Zera with Bucky, 1996 #1 Kuvasz:

"4/10/96 - Winner's Dog

Kuvasz Nationals at 20 months old"

"4/14/96 - Best of Breed

over the nation's top Kuvasz"

Bucky was born in August of 94. He is OVC cleared for hips (the Canadian OFA),

CERF, vWD and Thyroid are all normal. He stands nearly

30 inches tall, and weighs in around 110-120 pounds.

He has a beautiful head with wonderful almond-shaped eyes. His movement

is wonderful with a super front end.

It was a delight to watch them run and romp; since Destiny died, Zera hadn't had too

many opportunities to just play with another dog. We got home in time for Christmas,

and we've waited to see if puppies would be in the Spring forecast. They are.

"2/12/00; Hard to believe this is only 10 weeks after she took that wonderful Best of

Breed, that svelte girlish physique long gone!!"

We are expecting these pups to be tall and athletic, with solid bone, but not bulky.

They should have correct head wedge and proportions. They should have lots of

bright white coat, slightly wavy to curly. They will be temperament tested and chosen

carefully to match the lifestyles of the "packs" in their new homes. They will be health

guaranteed and available late April, reservations being considered to qualified homes.

Now that you've seen so much of Ch Ghosthill's Elso Szerelem, here's a few more or

Zera, the delightful pet and loyal companion we live with and love:

" 'C'mon guys, you sure are slow'

Spring 99, Sandia Mtns"

" 'I'll stay with you and protect you anywhere.'

Summer 99, again on Mt Taylor"

"Winter 99, the welcomed house guest"

"Our Pack, Spring 99, Sandia Mtns"
