[HELENA'S NOTE: due to drama, certain people will not have descriptions next to their names. To hear dish on them, you'd have to go to my REAL site... But, really - drama, okay? Get the hell over it. I do the best I can and still compartmentalize everything for those who can't deal with ALL of me...]
*Jayden - My very dearest female friend since, like, the beginning of time. We met in first grade and now, a few thousand miles apart, are closer than ever. Nobody else on the planet could be bright, witty, understanding, and honest like she is. Not only that, but she puts up with me, and is amazingly talented at almost anything she does... Nah - forget I said "almost." Jayden is my main inspiration for this journal and a set of 100+ page letters I've mailed her over the years after she moved two or three hundred miles away from the town where we grew up.
*Peter - "...I mean, even an old friend... I mean, like us for example. Do you think that you and I could ever have anything like that?" (all apologies to Stephen Sondheim and George Furth...)
*David - "Courage, Helena. Have courage. I love you. *Sigh* It never really does end, does it?"
*Erich - my first boyfriend. We met in first grade, and clicked immediately because we were the outcasts of the school. We began dating in 1996 and broke up 9 months later; after the relationship ended, I was co-dependent, self-conscious, depressed, and ashamed of myself. Erich considers himself an atheist; I consider him a nihlist. He considers himself brilliant; I consider him book-smart and stupider than dogshit when it comes to people. We broke up for various reasons: he cheated on me, he couldn't deal with me being in love with Peter, he humiliated me publically, and I get the feeling that he just wanted someone to control. And his mother was a bitch.
*Suzanne - Erich's current girlfriend
*Meg - David's ex-housemate, and an employee of my favorite coffeehouse. We've never been really close friends, because neither of us can loosen up enough to be sentimental or anything, but we've had our great moments together. She dated Erich about a year after I broke up with him, but it didn't hurt our friendship much; I just ignored him. Eventually she ended up doing the same, and all was completely back to normal.
*Amy - the bane of Meg's existence. She weighs about 6,000 pounds, which wouldn't be grounds for discrimination except that she uses her big-girl attitude to push people around. She's been in love with David for years, and is excessively possessive, bitchy, and obnoxious... Eventually, David grew to despise her, and Meg and I just think of her as a pain in the ass. I really was rather afraid of her for awhile though.
Alan - entertainment writer for my hometown's local paper.
*Mike - my closest friend in Santa Fe. We met the first day we came here for college, and were dating two days later. We don't have a lot in common, but we've gotten to know each other well enough to get along. But we're from completely different lifestyles: mine is wild and full of experiences, his is slow and pointed mainly in a forward direction. And he's a straight guy, so I have no idea what the hell to do with him... :?)
*Neil - a psychotic yet beautiful and charming lad I met in 1996 at the coffeehouse. Immediately captivated by him, I listened to him tell me stories about his beliefs; among these beliefs were reincarnation, vampirism, Wiccan practices, and a whole lot of crap about sorcery and the world ending. He formed a cult called The Clan of The Blood Rose, populated by 7-15 "vampires," including myself. Erich thought I was insane, Jayden took everything in stride, Peter and I were fighting at the time, so he never knew, and I hid the whole thing from David. When Neil and his girlfriend, Marianne, moved to California (or someplace) we lost touch and I fell out of Neil's spell. I no longer believe in vampires, and am working my way out of believing some of the cult's other crap...
Marianne - Neil's former girlfriend, now living in California, while Neil travels the country. She is now engaged to her boyfriend from before Neil. She is sometimes a sex addict, and would sometimes like to talk about long-term relationships, and it is very hard to find a stable Marianne. Last I knew, she still believed in vampires, but has no intention of going back to Neil or the Clan of the Blood Roses.
Rachel - Neil's former mistress, the bane of Marianne's existence. Sometimes a good friend to me, sometimes a bitch from hell. She's listened to me bitch, and she's bitched right back at me. She and Meg were seeing Erich at the same time, and, upon finding out, formed an alliance against him. Rachel then developed a huge crush on Meg's current beau, and they became total enemies. Rachel, meanwhile, still pines over Neil once in awhile, and is a bitch the rest of the time. We're not mortal enemies, but I don't really like her. But we used to be friends, sort of, so she's significant. Oh yes, and she still believes in vampires, and that Neil will come back for her...
*Miergé - the happy-hippie from my high school. We didn't have a ton in common, but we got along fairly well because I was the Yin to her Yang, and we both did like incense and all that...
*Julie - on-again off-again friend of mine - one of many from high school. She's possibly the only person I know who ACTUALLY relates to Nine Inch Nails songs and doesn't just thing she does. Again, we've known each other since the beginning of time, but we're never going to really decide whether or not we're friends... At one point, she dated Erich, and at another point, she made me cry in a crowded hallway. I sent her a Christmas card though. Results seem to be pending.
*Ken - It's five o'clock somewhere - and that's the someplace you were at when I needed you.
*Andrew - The only person I have ever had a one-night stand with. I don't justify it.
*Sean - We're not going to talk about him if you sincerely value your dishware...
*Aengus - that's his real name because how the hell do you come up with a replacement for AENGUS? He's an e-pal of mine, the only one I've ever truthfully said "I love you," to. He's more than a little nuts, more than a little beautiful, and he never fails to raise my eyebrows with every emotion known to woman with every word he writes me. And he's got a lovely British accent... :?)
*Jeff - Peter's ex, then Ken's ex. And somewhere in between, I think I had my turn with him... :?) Jeff and I and a mutual e-pal set up a "club" known as the Alcoholic Slut Society, and went about doing sleazy things... The Society broke up when rumors started flying about me being pregnant (DRAMADRAMADRAMA!)and when Jeff tried to kill himself.
*Greg - Not that I'm proud of this one, but another ex of mine. He grabbed ahold of me just after I'd broken up with David, threatened to kill himself if I didn't go out with him, got me high on tainted marijuana, and told me all sorts of insane stories about our past lives together. It took me four or five months to break up with the little putz, but when I did it, I felt damn good!
*Valerie - Gahd, it seems like everyone's dated Erich after I did! Valerie and I got to be friends when Erich cheated on me with her. We both realized he was a jerk and became very close. She'd been having a lot of troubles at home and I helped her run away... For legal reasons, I cannot tell you the rest of the story... However, Valerie is now safe, and, last I knew, relatively happy...
More "characters" will be added to this list as I add them to my journal... :?)
Love,
Helena*
