A dreary day... It's raining and generally shitty. It's the sort of rain that starts, oh, right about now, and doesn't let up for approximately eight months. Not as light as a drizzle, but not quite a storm, either. Just shitty. For whatever reason, though, I love it. Mostly, I suppose, because it's not Binghamtonian snow. Ugh.
I had a one-freaking-hour meeting at work today. It's such a pain in the ass to get out of bed at nine, go to work at ten, and then go ALL the way back home at eleven. I would love to know whose grand plan this was... Argh.
It wasn't so bad, really... Next quarter, there's going to be a public speaking, and speech-writing class on campus, and the students will be required to come into the Writing Center for assistance every week. I may end up taking this class, since the Masters program I want to take eventually requires credit in public speaking. Besides, I'm chickenshit of speaking to crowds. Hell, I'm chickenshit of speaking to one or two people sometimes. I'm twenty-freaking-three. It's about time I got the hell over that.
Anyway, so the teachers of this class came in to talk to the writing tutors about how to evaluate a good speech. Hm. Whatever.
But the cool part was watching a short video of some Jesse Jackson speech from 1984. I didn't really give a damn about what he was saying (I mean, I'm sorry, but Reagan DID win... it's kind of over now, what with Reagan being even MORE of a mush-head than he ever was...), but the speech itself was just so fiery! It was almost worth getting up at nine, going to school for an hour, and coming back home.
And now, I'm going to go smoke a cigarette and work on my book...

Oh, by the way, this computer has been royally fucking up lately, so my entires may continue to be sporadic... Since the computer is on, like, twenty-four hours a day, the little mechanism that puts it to sleep has sort of burned out, and it keeps just putting itself to sleep while you're in the middle of working on stuff. *sigh* Fuck technology.
