29 November 2002 ~ Cherry pie and computer games...

I am thankful for many, many things...

Cherry pie, for example. And blackberries. And cute dogs. And smart people to argue with. I am thankful that I have a sense of smell; I know a kid who doesn't. I'm thankful I can read; I also know some people who can't do that very well. I'm thankful for fog in Washington... Fog is beautiful...

I'm thankful for morning sickness. I mean, I'm not HAPPY about it, but I know that if I feel crappy when I get up, and I have to go outside and get some air or I'll puke -- I know that means that the baby is still in me, and probably doing quite fine. I'm thankful to the whole universe for choosing me to be a mother, even if it is scary and, at times, a little gross. It is scary and gross to be pregnant, but it's also pretty freaking exciting... The little one is about the size of a grape today, according to most sources. I am thankful for grapes. And deliriously thankful for the life and health of the baby...

I'm thankful because I really suppose I am loved. That's a very, very good thing.

I'm thankful for the goofy little kid presently clutching at my sleeve and telling me he wants to play computer games, and begging me to stay and watch him for awhile... I'm telling him he's a goof. Aw, what the hell; I'll watch his game anyway...
