Lit three candles on a small railroad bridge over Capitol Lake last night. Stared at the stars and watched the candles until it was too bloody cold to be outside anymore.
Walked to work today. A fine, chilly day. Everything orange and smelling like smoke and frosty things. I could feel the trees breathing and the earth pulling the leaves down, using them as blankets. Once, one of my classmates told me that an LSD trip had afforded him one great revelation: that the earth is ALIVE. Well, of course, the earth is full of live things. No, no, contended my classmate: the earth is ALIVE. He's right, somehow. I could feel it on the way to work.
Things will be okay. They'll be okay somehow. Really.
