25 October 2002 ~ Mentionings...

I was crappy as a Catholic, and don't ever want to be one again, but man I love the Bible. I read it to go to sleep sometimes. Especially the parts they used to hammer into me in church -- the parables and stuff. It's nicer to READ it than to be told what it means. Jesus, man -- he was one smart dude. Radical, too. Still pretty radical, come to think of it. I bet if Jesus were alive today, he'd be a professor at Evergreen and he'd live in a van down by Labor Ready.

I like the Old Testament too. Except the "begats." That shit is duller than the paint on Douglass's car.

I found this the other day: Ecclesiastes, 3:1-8. I know you've all heard it, probably have it memorized as a result of oldies radio stations, but I'm going to make you look it up anyway, and read it, because it's pretty. I like the fifth verse best right now.

I don't have time for a real entry today; I have to write an essay, read a book, look up how the fuck to do MLA citations (I flatly refuse to permanently learn how to do it), and get ready for work tomorrow. Yes, work. On a Saturday. My one actual day off. Oh well.
