I met someone tonight, sort of. It's someone I've sort of been trying to meet for the past four or five years -- somebody I've just seen out and about. We had a brief discussion a week or two ago in Java Joe's, and exchanged phone numbers, but we never called each other. Instead, we ran into each other at a five-hour driving course.
First of all, the New York State required five-hour course is damned boring. I believe I would rather watch five hours' worth of The Golf Channel, or sit in front of an aquarium and watch fish swim for five hours. Second of all, yeah, I passed it, and now I'm all set to take my road-test, assuming I learn how the hell to actually, you know, drive.
Anyway, it was at this course that I met this guy. I guess for purposes of this journal, I'll call him... fuck... I can't think of a name... Shit... (Helena searches through her "name your baby" book...) Okay, he can be Zeke for the time being. So I ran into this guy, uh... Zeke... We talked. We shared a cigarette break and a couple of pretzels. And then we walked home together. (Seeing as how we were both at a five-hour pre-licensing course, it stands to reason that neither one of us is currently driving, although Zeke is about 25 and was only taking the course because he'd accidentally let his license expire...)
...Only, we didn't walk home... We walked to the Boscov's parking garage downtown. He knew a way to get onto the roof. I wasn't tall enough to get up there; I couldn't stretch quite far enough. But it was a nice try. And it was a nice walk. And we talked. SUCH an interesting person. And so interested in listening to me -- it's rare to find an interesting person who cares enough to listen, too.
It's funny, how, when you meet someone, you drop these stupid little hints, trying to figure out certain things...
It's funny how, sometimes, the person you're talking to, avoids answering you directly...
(I still can't figure out if he's freaking straight or not... Honest to gahd, I think we've dated somebody in common... I'm nearly sure of it... But I couldn't bring myself to ask directly... That just seems cheesy.)
...He gave me a (read: THE) walking tour of Binghamton and kissed my cheek as we parted ways.
*eyebrows raised*
