When I was a little kid, my grandmother used to have this weird little basket with a weird little lid on top of it. She kept the basket on top of her piano, and every time I went over to her house, she'd find some excuse to pick up that littl basket, and command me to smell it.
It always smelled like dust. And something sort of sweet, but... yeah, it mostly smelled like dust.
Inside, there were tons and tons of dusty little purple seed-like things. They were bits of dried lavender.
I would sneeze like you've never heard anybody sneeze.
For some stupidass reason, it took me until last year to discover that I was actually mildly allergic to lavender. I remember the day well. I was at the Olympia Farmer's Market, and some stand owner was asking me to smell these lovely, lovely flowers... So, of course, I did...
And promptly sneezed approximately five thousand times, and got a horrible sinus headache.
I smelled some lavender flowers in somebody's garden one day last month. I guess I forgot what it looked like, or something. So, I sneezed about five million times.
Dude, am I dumb, or what?
I mean, it's not a serious allergy. It's just sort of stupid, and I sneeze a lot... It's not like my throat closes and I begin to gasp for air... I just sneeze.
So, anyway, some people that the Jensens know are having a wedding. I barely know any of these people from personal experience, but they're old friends of the Jensens. So, the mother of the happy bride brought over about a zillion little wedding "favors" for us to assemble. They're little candles inside little candle holders, and we were supposed to tie these big ugly ribbons around them, and hook a stupid, ugly flower to each one, along with a little tag with the names of the couple. Really, the favors are just fucking ugly. But, whatever, they're nice people, at least from what I know of them, and I didn't mind as much as I pretended to mind.
...except, I discovered, a bit too late, that the candles were lavender scented.
...I feel like my sinuses are going to burst out of my head.
I hate lavender. It smells like dust anyway.
Oh yeah, and they found another "suspicious" dead body near Olympia. This one was hanging from a tree. Go figure.
Not much going on. As you can tell.
