It's 2:19 AM, and Jake and I have to wake up at 8, so this is gonna be short...
Today (well, yesterday), we drove up a mountain (which is a very, very mild name for the mighty Mount Rainier); got mild altitude sickness (which is much too fun to properly be called a "sickness"); had a snowball fight, watched the sun set; accidentally almost went to Yakima, which is on the other side of the mountains (I give shitty directions); saw a very cute, sweet little grey-and-black fox running around the parking lot; fucked like wild beasts near the source of the Nisqually River; watched a gorgeous moonrise in the middle of the woods; cruised up and down the main drag in Ashford, WA, looking for blackberry pie; located blackberry pie in a sexy little bar/restaurant with Janis Joplin and the Eagles on the jukebox; ate said blackberry pie (Jake's eyes rolled back in his head, but he still said sex is better than blackberry pie... I still have some pie-places up my sleeve, though...); and talked shit in the truck on the way back to town...
Another event of significance that I might mention was the point at which we hit the world's hugest pit of a pot-hole. I was afraid the alignment would get fucked up. But, magically, hitting the pothole did nothing to the alignment. Not only that, but it made some of the dashboard lights start working again for the first time in a year or so, according to Jake.
It's been a very good day.
In slightly crappy news, one of my stupid (?) wisdom teeth came in the other day. It hurts like a son-of-a-bitch, but I'm still sort of proud. It's that sort of nonsensical pride one might feel when one unexpectedly grows a new body part. Sort of a grossed-out, confused, startled, glee at all the weird things one's body can do, despite the fact that some of those things might hurt.
(My mom tells me she used to put rum on my gums when I was teething as an infant... I tried a very small swig of Olympia beer yesterday, but it didn't work... Fuck. Anyway...)
I have to go to bed now.
May you be greeted merrily in your dreams by sweet little foxes, and badass blackberry pie...
