Wendover Chag came 13000 miles on-board a cargo ship
to make us all realise that we were Beagle people.
He was the "Original Merry Beagle"for us.
Here is a picture of the little fellow
on deck during the voyage out from England.
Chag won the hearts of all the crew of the ship
that brought him to Fremantle, and, from all accounts
he spent most of the voyage in the comfort of their various cabins,
rather than in the hold in his "travelling kennel".
We still refer to his sea going home as Chag's box and it is still in use today.
It has been well and truly "beagalized" over the intervening years,
which has necessitated many hours of repair work to be done.
Slightly the worse for wear, it still provides a cozy home
for our present happy pack of li'l terrors.
