Bataan
Memorial Ceremony
Albuquerque, New Mexico
The
Bataan-Corregidor Memorial
Foundation of New Mexico, Inc.,
in cooperation with the City of
Albuquerque and the Filipino
American Foundation of New
Mexico, held it's annual Bataan
Memorial Ceremony on April 5,
2008 in Bataan Memorial Park.
This year
our ceremony's focus was on the
current effort to have the
Congressional Gold Medal awarded
to Bataan Veterans. This honor
is the highest civilian award
our Country can bestow on its
citizens. Legislation to award
this honor was sponsored by
Congressman Tom Udall and
co-sponsored by Congresswoman
Heather Wilson. Both legislators
were featured speakers.
Afterwards,
were wonderfully surprised by a
gifts of photographs from Jose
Castillo of Rio Rancho, New
Mexico who happened by the Park
during the ceremony, and Morris
Bitsie who has previously
provided photos for the
Foundation.
