Strongholds
What are these "strongholds" to which I run?
but cesspools of lies and deceptions,
filled with such twisted thoughts,
as to break a warm heart.
Their palisades and moats,
merely false hopes and broken promises.
Their candied fruits and fine wines,
tainted with the subtlest of poison,
still more distasteful than the homely broth I desire.
Take me in on a sunny fruitful day,
to throw me into the enemy during the sleet and seige.
Even while I was inside,
your roofs and walls could not shield me from myself.
Your white stones stained crimson with blood,
black with cruel hatred.
