Welcome to the Official Ultimate Pride Website. Ultimate Pride is a Mixed Martial Arts Association that was started in December 2002. The fighters of Ultimate Pride range in size, skill, and styles but are all competitive and looking for a shot at their weight class title. **** THE CHAMPIONS are: Light Weight- Kurt McCall; Welter Weight- Dave Griffith; Middle Weight- Marc Range; Heavy Weight- Craig Grimm. **** THE HISTORY OF THE ULTIMATE PRIDE ***So far we have held six events in the Ultimate Pride. Starting with the first, Ultimate Pride 1 - The Beginning. There was only one fight that night and it was two of the best today. Brian "The Bone Crusher" Laskey (now known as "The Cabybara") and Dave "Golden Boy" Griffith (now known as "The Pullet") That first went all three rounds and to a decision in which the judges ruled it a DRAW. **** In Ultimate Pride 2 - Rumble in the Jungle we saw the appearance of some new powers in the sport. The first fight was Brian "The Cabybara" Laskey fighting "Hollywood" Brent Hineline in a vacant title shot. The fight only lasted one round and Laskey ended it with a heel hook. Later that night Dave "The Pullet" Griffith fought Kurt "The Chupacabra" McCall in a vacant welter Weight Title shot. The fight doctor, John Prisk, had to end the fight early due to the damge Griffith inflicted. **** Just a few short weeks later Ultimate Pride hit the scene again with Ultimate Pride 3 - Judgement Day. There was a new record of three fights that night. Starting with Griffith fighting a rookie Dave "The fighter formerly known as Matt" Baker. The fight was a stand up match for the first two rounds and when Griffith took it to the ground in the 3rd Round it ended quick with Griffith submitting Baker with a rear naked choke. The next fight was two new comers, Craig "El Diablo" Grimm and Paul "Jimmy Stick" Brenner in a vacant Heavy Weight Title Match. Grimm easily choked out Brenner in the 1st Round and while recieving his belt Grimm was attacked by Brenner and a rematch began. Grimm took it 2 rounds and then choked out Brenner again. **** In Ultimate Pride 4 the vacant Light Weight Title shot started the event. Kurt McCall defeated Dave Baker in a decision 3:2. The next fight was a title defense. Brian "The Cabybara" Laskey put his title on the line against new comer Marc "The Spinebreaker" Range. The fight went an astonishing 3 rounds filled with huge slams from Range and punishing knees to the body from Laskey. In the end the unamious decision went to Range and the title switched over to Team Franklin now holding 3 of the 4 titles. The next fight was veteran dave Griffith fighting rookie "Doctor" Frank Natale. The fight was over very quickly after a take down and submission by key lock. Griffith retained his title. The fourth fight was Paul "Jimmy Stick" Brenner and Steve "Uno Shoten" Codey. This was an inter-weight class challenge and Steve was ravaged by Pauls devistating punches, headbutts, and knees. Giving Paul the first ever TKO in Ultimate Pride History. The final fight of the night was Craig "El Diablo" Grimm and Mike "Flop Top" Hoyt. The fight only lasted one round has the super heavy Mike Hoyt was choked out by the technician Craig Grimm. **** Ultimate Pride 5 started with a vicious flying knee from veteran Dave Griffith. Who submitted Blair Maginnis is an inter-weight calss bout with a front guillotine choke proving that its skill not size that will prevail. Also at UP 5 two new records were set by Craig Grimm. The first was the fastest victory ever. Grimm arm barred Laskey in a swift 12 seconds. The the second record was the fact that he fought an amazing 3 fights in-a-row. Arm barring Laskey, Choking out Brenner (for the 3rd time) and submitting Laskey with e reverse neck crank. **** The next event was an exciting tournament known as Ultimate Pride 6-The Grand Prix. The first fight was Marc "The Spinebreaker" Range making his return to the ring fighting Blair Maginnis. The fight went one round as Range tossed Maginnis around the ring like a rag doll. After that veteran Dave Griffith fought Steve "Uno Shoten" Codey. Dave came out with a flying drop kick and from there on it looked as thought Griffith would be defeated for the first time. Codey threw a giant headbutt but it didn't seem to affect Griffith as he flipped and choke out Codey in the first round. The 3rd fight was Brian Laskey and rookie Jimmy Ward. This was one of the best fights of the night as Ward showed his potential by lasting with Laskey for quite some time. Later on Laskey started to fight dirty using his tactic of letting his oppenent stand up, and while they try to he throws a kick to the spine. Laskey choked out Ward and needless to say moved on to fight Range, a rematch. Dave Baker was set to fight Kurt McCall but McCall forfeited and Baker moved on to fight Dave Griffith. This fight was the most vicious beating I have ever seen. Griffith unloaded all he had in his rematch with Baker. He reminded me of Vitor Belfort. In the words of Jim Brown, "...I just saw swinging." In the second round Griffith again dominated with a flurry of punches and finally threw a combonation of a hook to the kidneys and a deadly elbow to knockout Baker. Setting a record for Griffith giving him the most fights ever and the first ever KO in Ultimate Pride History. When Laskey fought Range in the 2nd round we all expected slams from Range. Although he held off the slams he still layed a beating on Laskey. Using his "Ground and Pound" technique. The finals were set to be the best fight in Ultimate Prdie History. Veteran Dave "The Pullet" Griffith and powerhouse Marc "Spinebreaker" Range. The first round was very even with great strikes from Range but quick kicks from Griffith. In the 2nd round Range attempted his unique slam three times but each time Griffith seemed to escape the punishment. By the end of the second round both fighters were feeling like Japanese fighting monkeys; very tired and wanting a banana. Griffith delivered a few nice kicks and dodged Range's big right hook to sink in a standing rear naked choke. The tournament winner being Dave "The Pullet" Griffith, making him the most decorated fighter in the league. **** Well for the time being those are all the events but, we'll be sure to keep you posted about all the fights and upcoming events.
