Love |
6 |
In June of 1998, Mary Lived in
Cincinnati, Ohio. She was called “The Hugger” by her loving family and
her neighbors at the apartment complex where she lived. This was because
she was so friendly and so generous with her hugs and smiles. Mary loved
jump rope and had just finished kindergarten.
A neighbor lured her into his apartment in the same complex. Ralph
Lynch, a former sex offender, molested and suffocated Mary and discarded
her body in the trash a few miles away. For the next few weeks, he
actually participated in the search for Mary. However, during
questioning by the police, he confessed to her murder and led police to
little Mary’s body.
Ralph Lynch was indicted and later found guilty of Mary’s murder. Lynch
received the death penalty. This sentence was recently upheld by the
Ohio Appellate Court. |

Three days after 8 year
old Cary Ann Medlin disappeared on
September 1, 1979, Robert Glen Coe admitted, that he had
lured her into his car as she rode
a bicycle near her parents' home in
Greenfield, Tenn. Coe told police
in handwritten and recorded
statements that he sexually
molested the girl, then tried to
choke her, and when that did not
work, stabbed her and watched her
bleed to death. He also said that
just before he killed her, she said
to him, "Jesus loves you, Jesus
loves you." Coe had a long history
of family and drug abuse, repeated
arrests for exposing himself in
public, and had been committed to
mental hospitals on four occasions
prior to the murder. |

|
Memphis, TN -- On the
afternoon of 6 May 1993, West
Memphis was rocked by the news of
the discovery of the mutilated
bodies of three eight-year-old
boys. Rumors regarding the nature
of the murders spread like wildfire
through the town. It was soon well
known that the boys had been cut
with a knife, raped and at least
one of the boy’s genitals had been
cut, many of these rumors were
based on inaccurate police
assumptions. By 12.00 p.m. the next
day, police were questioning their
first suspect, Damien Echols.
Several weeks later Jessie
Misskelley, an associate of Echols,
confessed to the murders,
implicating Damien Echols and
another friend, Jason Baldwin. Soon
after, following a confession by
Misskelley, the three teenagers
were arrested and charged with the
murders of James M. Moore, Steven
E. Branch and Christopher M. Byers.

Lisa |
Norrell |
15 |
No
charges have been filed in last
year's death of a 15-year-old
Pittsburg girl despite an alleged confession. Lisa Norrell
disappeared after a party Nov. 6,
1998, and her body was
found
near a landscaping business on the
Pittsburg-Antioch Highway a week
later. The investigation of her murder has
become entwined with the case of a
fire captain who
reportedly traded information about
the slaying in a deal that allowed
him to escape
child-molestation charges. That
information, said the mother of one
of the molestation victims,
was that 25-year-old David Heneby
of Pittsburg had confessed to
Norrell's slaying.
Heneby is serving a six-year prison
term for unrelated assault charges
Former Antioch fire captain Duanne
Shoemake had child-molestation
charges against him
dropped after he told authorities
that Heneby confessed taking
Norrell, holding her for several days and doing "awful things" to
her, the mother of one of the
molestation victims told the San
Francisco Chronicle. Heneby was
arrested in Norrell's killing on
Jan. 6, but he and
another suspect were released the
next day because prosecutors
determined they didn't
have enough evidence to charge them
with the crime.

Michelle |
Norris |

Family members and police said the girl
vanished while playing in the school
yard of the Capt. G. Harold Hunt
Elementary School, where she was a first
grader. Her body was
discovered less than a half mile
from the school. Michelle's clothes
were lying next to her
and, according to family members
who viewed photos of the body, she
was dirty and badly bruised.
Authorities
classified Michelle's death as a
murder, bringing to five the number
of young children
who have died in the Providence
area recently after being reported
missing.

Kari |
Nunemaker |
16 |
A one-time
suspect in the 1991 murder of Kari
Nunemaker of Wakarusa has been
convicted
in California of kidnapping and
multiple counts of rape and sodomy.
The
convictions are unrelated to
Nunemaker's death, which remains
unsolved.
The Wakarusa teen disappeared in
January 1991 and her body was found
several
days later in Bonneyville Mill
County Park near Bristol. Mott has
a long history of
violent sexual assaults against
women, including multiple
convictions in Illinois and
one in Elkhart County.
Mott
had been sentenced in Elkhart
County in 1978 for a rape and
kidnapping that started
at the Elkhart County 4-H
Fairgrounds. Mott was free on
parole from that 24-year sentence
when Nunemaker disappeared, but he
skipped a mandatory probation
meeting a few days later
and moved to San Francisco. |

Ashley |
Ochoas |
6 |
Angela Anderson lived in
an apartment with her 3 children:
Edwardo Ochoa (8), Ashley Ochoa
(6), and Lacey Anderson (19
months). Wheat was a church
maintenance man and lived in the
same apartment complex, often
babysitting for Angela while she
was at work. On July 30, 1995,
Angela delivered a note to Wheat,
indicating that she was going to
call the police because Ashley had
told her that she was molested by
Wheat. Wheat became enraged, went
to the apartment and shot Angela,
then shot and killed each of the
children. Angela survived with
brain damage. Three others,
including a security guard and a
police officer, were also shot and
wounded by Wheat during the
rampage. |
