6Y Letter To The Editor Dear Editor, The political bureaucratic argument going on about the animal shelter, I started. I found out from an organization member that her little friend was one of the little animals gassed at the Walker Animal Shelter. I wrote a children`s book about the wild life animals that are killed just for the sport of it. She read my book. She called me and told me about her little animal being gassed at the Walker Animal Shelter without being notified her little friend was there. This lady took her little animal friend with her every place she went. She had been shopping in Walker when her little animal was taken from her vehicle. She believes her little animal was trying to find it`s way home when it was picked up and put in the Walker Animal Shelter. Her little animal friend was one of the thirty animals gassed at the Walker Animal Shelter. August 19th I announced in the Daily Star I was changing my support from Mike Grimmer to Dewey Ratcliff for Parish President. I explained why and two days later Dewey amended the euthanasia ordinance of gassing to injections. Dewey also stated no animals will be euthanized until all procedures were met including adoptions and notifying the public the description of the dogs being kept at the animal shelters in Livingston Parish. I bought my son several little dogs but most of them grew faster than he did. In 1992 a lady gave my son a Toy Manchester Terrier. We named her Crickett. This little dog is like a child. She understands everything we say. When we ask her if she wants to go to Walmart, she tries to talk and she stands on her back legs ready to go. I play church music on our electric organ and Crickett howls right along with the music. So you see if our little Crickett would have gotten gassed with that group of little animals, you would have found me over at Sheriff Willie`s hotel. The lady that had the bad luck of losing her little animal friend to the Walker Animal Shelter`s gassing party has been sick and down hearted towards Mayor Mike Grimmer and so have I. I thought Mike Grimmer had a heart and was a fair candidate for Parish President, but this gassing changed my mind. W.
