5/12/02 Our next game is Sunday, May 12th in Somerset at River Road Park vs. the Somerset Avengers. Game time is 1:30 PM. The directions is posted on the team Web Page. Just click on Schedule above left or go to the Patriots Group Page and see Postings.

5/5/02 Patriots took on the Hillsborough Sonics. The game was back and forth. However, the Sonics surged in the 2nd Half to regain the lead from the Patriots and held on to win the game. Nima and Nick scored goals for the Patriots. Unfortunately for the Patriots we lost the services of our Sweeper Guy Zummo early in the 2nd Half with an ankle injury. Patiots - 2, Sonics 3.

5/4/02 Patriots join the Parsippany Soccer Club at the Meadowlands to watch the Metrostars play the Dallas Burn. Unfortunately the Metrostars got burned by Dallas 2-1 in a game that Mike Petke got the boot for fighting. The game was not a complete waste as the tailgate party was fun, and the players got to high-five the Metrostar players. The play of the game was excellent and the Metrostars showed signs that they were going to comeback and win. However, the Burn's counter attack was superb. Great game and lots of fun.

5/4/02 Yes the Patriots will play any day of the week. The Patriots took on the South Plainfield Alliance at Smith Field in Parsippany. The team took a 3-0 lead on goals from Buddy and Sean, and a header by Nick Reid off a corner. The rest of the half was a defensive battle with the two teams dueling. The Patriots defense withstood a surge by the Alliance only giving up one goal in the 2nd half. Dan and Ryan performed a superb job alternating in the keeper position. Patriots 3, Alliance 2.

4/28/02 Patriots play the TRSA Jets after a long, rainy drive to Toms River. The state cup game was not as celebratory as the previous day's games in Monroe Township. The TRSA Jets got off to a quick start taking a 2-0 lead. The Patriots came roaring back with Buddy Councilor hitting a 25 foot shot over the wall on a direct kick; and the Pugach's, Brandon and Brett, connected on a cross to score a goal with five seconds left in the half. Contrary to the other teams beliefs there are two of them (not just one guy that seems to be there each time you look up). The 1st half ends on a high note with a 2-2 tie. The 2nd Half did not go the Patriots way. TRSA Jets win 4-2. Congratulations to the Jets and good luck moving on in the State Cup!

4/27/02 Patriots win the U16 Championship in the Monroe Invitational Tournament.

Patriots Win!!!! Monroe Invitational U16 Champions

The Patriots inspite of missing six key players, played the first game without substitions beating the Bravehearts 2-0. David Gehman scored the first goal, and Buddy Councilor sealed the game with a second goal. In the second game Manny Rodriquez dribbled through the defense from his left fullback position. Manny describes the event as a defenseman's dream, with 10 seconds remaining, dribbling through the other teams offense, overpowering the midfield, surprising the defense with a shot on goal and scoring. Only for a hand to come out from no where and take the goal away. No not the goalie! A defensive player stuck his hand out to avoid the score. Handball and shot on goal. Buddy took the shot, and the result was "S-C-O-R-E!!!!! Patriots hold out to the end with a 1-0 victory. It was a excellent battle by all teams. The Patriots defense proved worthy of high fives lead by Jason Giner showing up everywhere on the field, with Dan, Todd, Manny, Sean and Guy playing superb "D". Yes, Sean was on "D" for a while. Guy noted it was a directors dream everything falling into place. Dan Trappe lived up to his name trapping all attempts and walked away with a clean sheet in both games. Wordy, yes, two games take up a lot of space.

4/27 & 4/28/02 We have a big weekend coming up with a tournament in Monroe Township on Saturday the 27th and the 2nd Round of the NJ Snickers State Cup in Toms River on Sunday the 28th. Our Mid-New Jersey game originally scheduled for 4/28 will be played on Saturday May 4th.

4/21/02 Patriots win 2nd Game in a row. The Patriots beat the Hillside Hurricanes 5-3. The Hurricanes played a hard game but could not overcome the Patriots lead of 2-0 in the first 4 minutes of the game, which came off of quick scores from Buddy Councilor and Nima Rahimi. Nima scored four of the Patriots five goals. A tenacious defense stopped each drive started by the Hurricanes. Again in the 2nd half we heard, "Oh! There's two of them!(This time in Portugese and Spanish). They were even saying that about Cuccio, no Giner, no Todd, no Manny - "Who are those guys? - They're everywhere!"
