Did you know you have the right to a copy of your records? I didnt know it.... until I had a doctor,
REFUSE to transfer my records until I paid a 'file transfer fee'.
He, and his staff, said the fees were to 'transfer my files as well as my childrens files to our new doctor'.

Can you believe that? Transfer fees to fax some documents (which faxing to a local number doesnt cost him ONE dime).
I asked nicely and explained to him I couldnt afford the fee (as well as WHY).
We needed our records. After several phone calls, the doctor called me, quite irriated:

"THE RECORDS WILL NOT BE RELEASED UNTIL THE TRANSFER FEE IS PAID"
"YOUR NOT ALLOWED TO HOLD OUR RECORDS HOSTAGE"
"IT'S MY OFFICE POLICY"
"YOUR IN HOUSE POLICIES DO NOT SUPERCEDE STATE AND FEDERAL LAWS"
"WELL, ITS MY POLICY,AND THE ROCORDS WILL NOT BE RELEASED UNTIL THE FEE IS PAID"

Unbelievable.

Now I was irriated...did he think I needed this crap? As if I didnt have enough problems.

He thought he was MY GOD

Well, that smelled a bit fishy to me...holding the files hostage
to the detriment of my family. Now, I didnt take kindly to this money grubbing doctor...
Here, my family is in crisis, and he's concerned with his $15.00.

Smelled VERY fishy to me indeed.
So I made some phone calls, to news paper reporters...
all of whom had recently written articles on doctors abusing their power.
I also called my new doctor and explained what was said,
and that I could not afford any fee's. NOW I was really stuck.

They all called him, and needless to say, my records were transfered...
and pretty quick too, I might add.
Hmmmmmmmm...
What ever they told him, he was scared.
BaHahahaha
He still says mean things about me, and the feeling is mutual.
*Lesson learned: this poor one isnt stupid...and she squeals like a pig too!! :)

I feel bad for the other people you KNOW he did/does it to.
Its amazing how some treat poor people...or take advantage of their ignorance...its down right repulsive.
My next step would have been the the links below, but luckily I avoided that route.
But it was still stress I didnt need.
