New Engineering - A Brief History

Founded in 1976 by Bill Davenport, New Engineering was, at first, concerned mostly with engineering and building products for the motorcycle industry. At our first location in an industrial park in central New Jersey, we shared a building with a small firm involved in rebuilding starters and alternators. The owner of this rebuilding firm had more questions about testing his product than we had answers for. After a while, we began building small simple test fixtures more or less as a favor for our neighbor and now friend. One thing led to another and we began offering our testers to the local (New York to Philadelphia) market. The rest, as they say, is history.

New Engineering now has over 30 different products designed and built for the auto-electric rebuilder. Our testers are at work in all 50 states and more than 18 foreign countries. Many of our tester are still in daily service with ages of 15 years plus. We maintain a complete inventory of parts to keep even the older testers in good operating condition.

We reach our customers through trade magazines, direct mailings and trade shows and sell through reps and direct. In addition to our line of stock products, we also offer a design and fabrication facility for special purpose and custom built test machines for customers with special needs.

As of June, 2006, New Engineering has closed its doors and no longer builds or sells test equipment. If you need replacement parts for any New Engineering equipment, please refer to the parts list for that equipment found on this web site.
