Marilyn Remembered Meeting and Marilyn Monroe Birthday Celebration.

On June 2, 2002, the Marilyn Remembered Fan Club met at the home of Greg Schreiner to have our monthly meeting and to celebrate what would have been the 76th Birthday of the legendary movie star Marilyn Monroe.

NEW MARILYN BOOK

HAPPY BIRTHDAY MR. A. C. LYLES!


Legendary Paramount Producer Mr. Lyles, pictured above with Gloria, Penny and Sylvia, celebrated his 84th Birthday 2 weeks ago! We all wished him a very Happy Birthday by singing the birthday song with Greg on piano!

ITEM #4

The Memorial Event, August 5, 2002


Eric Monroe Woodward mentioned a reminder that this year is the 40th Anniversary of Marilyn's passing and the 20th Anniversary of Marilyn Remembered. It was highly recommended that when you are arriving for the memorial August 5, 2002 please arrive at least 30 minutes early and to note that the parking is limited inside the Park due to construction so please try to park in the lots surrounding Westwood Memorial.

ITEM #5

ALEX THEATRE MARILYN EVENT

Marilyn Remembered member and Alex Theatre staff member Valerie Weich shared with us the success of the Alex Theatre's presentation of the newly restored print of NO BUSINESS LIKE SHOW BUSINESS. Along with the presentation of this special print the Alex Theatre, located in Glendale, California, hosted a presentation of a Marilyn Monroe exhibit. The items on display included Marilyn Monroe's personal script from the film, generously loaned by Greg Schreiner as well as the gloves she wore in one of the NBLSB scenes on loan by Tony Plant. Valerie contributed to the exhibit with items from her personal collection as did The Marilyn Museum and myself. HAPPY BIRTHDAY MARILYN!

Now, the main reason we held this months meeting was to celebrate what would have been Marilyn Monroe's 76th Birthday. So, in celebration of this momentous occasion, Greg supplied party favors, food and cake. Here some photos and descriptions from this fabulous party!

Greg holds a numbers raffle, among the amazing prizes given out where Un-Cut sheet of Marilyn Monroe cards (Pictured above), DVD's, Marilyn by Moonlight Calendars and the 1998 Norma Jeane young Merlot!


The cake! You can't have a Marilyn Birthday party without a cake!

Special celebrity guest included Actress Gloria Pall, Paramount Producer A.C. Lyles, Actress Penny McGuiggan, Hair dresser Sylvia Barnhart and Photographer George Barris!

More fabulous guests: Pic #1 Computer wiz Dan AKA Danamo came all the way from Phoenix, Pic #2 Actress and new member Elin Eriksson who is originally from Sweden, Pic #3 Actress Gia who also traveled all the way from Arizona, Pic #4 author Ernest Cunningham who wrote book The Ultimate Marilyn, Pic #5 Caroline(George Barris's daughter), Harrison and Valerie!


We were all treated to Marnie's rendition of Happy Birthday and Diamonds are a Girl's Best Friend ALA Marilyn Monroe!

THAT'S A WRAP!

The meeting ended at around 7pm. We are looking forward to next month's meeting as Elin Eriksson will be performing her one woman play on Marilyn Monroe called,I LOVE YOU TOO.


UPDATES:

Evelyn Moriarty, Marilyn's stand-in and personal friend, is still convalescing at the Hollywood Actors home. She appears to be getting better! Through the kindness of Harrison Held we all were able to sign well wishes on a card for her! Will keep you posted on her progress.


NEXT MONTH:

Our next official meeting will be in July 14.
