There is a certain enchantment to visiting or stumbling upon a place for the very first time - being fortunate enough to capture that brief moment of newness and discovery on film, makes it all that much more of an experience.

I often travel the desolate back roads of Upstate New York, New Jersey and Pennsylvania, where small family-owned wineries, old vine-covered schoolhouses and roadside snack bars are a welcome relief from the glut of mass-production, the sky-high concrete and the wall-to-wall claustrophobia.

Photography is an escape - it transports me into the world of that which I am shooting. Whether photographing a close-up of a flower's petal, a rust-covered road sign or a weather-beaten statue in a graveyard, the camera becomes a passport into the life at the other end of the lens.
