Rare Dug New York Militia, Gen. Staff, & Cavalry Officer c.1837-1845 Sword Plate

Rare dug pre Mexican American War New York Militia, General Staff, and Cavalry Officer sword belt plate or buckle. The laurel and palm wreath and letters are soldered onto the front. Half of the letter N and a portion of the laurel are missing. The applied tongue is present and the belt loop bar is stamped 80. It measures 49 mm's x 81 mm's in size. It has lost most of its original curve and is now fairly flat. It is the same type of plate as plate 220 in O'Donnell's American Military Belt Plates book. It is a rare buckle. $595
