SAMPLE VIRTUAL REALITY WORKS
Copyright 2008 Jared De Santis

Hello wanderers. You have stumbled upon my first website showcasing some of my design projects in virtual reality. The following five images below are samples of my work when I studied at NYIT. By left-clicking on one of these images, you will be able to download a file which allows you to 'navigate' through the project. After downloading the "zip" file, extract all contents to a convenient location and run the executable ".exe" file. Note: All downloaded files must be in the same location for the program to work. If the program doesn't run, you might receive an error message stating that "d3dx9_30.dll" is missing. If that is the case, you can download the file for free by clicking here. After downloading the zip file, extract the file into the folder of the project that you wish to view.

To control your movement through the project, first press zero, and then use the cursor keys or the numeric keypad to move around. The keys 'Home' and 'End' will shift your view up and down, while keys 'PageUp' and 'PageDown' will tilt your view up and down. The 'WASD' keys perform similar to the cursor keys, except that 'AD' will shift you left and right. You can also look around by holding the right mouse button and moving the mouse around within the viewing window. Press 'Alt-Enter' to toggle between window and full-screen modes.

TRANSFORMATION

The image to the left is a project called Transformation. A first semester project, Transformation was simply a series of axonometric drawings that progress from a few simple objects to a completed form (the image you see here).

TIMEPIECE

This image is a project called Timepiece. The last first semester project, Timepiece added some additional elements such as the vault and stair which suggests a certain path of movement and varied visual appeal.

GEOLOGIST ASTRONOMER

This image is a second semester project for both a geologist and an astronomer. They each have their own space (larger cubes) and share a communal space (center cube).

ENVIRONMENTAL CENTER

This image is a fourth semester project of an environmental center on a palisade. The site is approached by a roadway running parallel to the cliff. The project is built into the site and projects slightly over the edge. It consists of multi-level parking, a theater, offices, exhibition, and restaurant space.

BROOKLYN APARTMENTS

This image is a sixth semester project of an apartment building in Brooklyn. The program called for eight units with a shared outside garden. In this project, I added materials such as brick and glass.
