"Skid" is a trainer's dream come true.    She is brilliant, driven, and has tons of attitude-- a once-in-a-lifetime dog!  I am truly blessed to call her my partner. Skid has been retired from competition with 47 OTCH points, 2 first placements, and 9 UDX legs. After her bout with Lyme disease, which was magnified by her advancing age, she could no longer handle the physical and mental pressure of intense competition. Retiring Skid with our goals unfinished was the most heartbreaking thing I have ever done, but it was in her best interest, and that's what's most important. Skid earns her first "Herding Advanced" qualifying score (with a class placement!) under Judge and Border Collie exhibitor/trainer Lori Herbel.

"Skid" is named for her mother's intense way of skidding into things before retrieving them!  Her mother, "Jetta," who recently passed away at age 13.5, was an incredible worker who learned to heel off leash with TOTAL competitive accuracy by the age of six months!  "Jetta" was the daughter of Janice DeMello's wonderful "Trivet." Skid's father, Celt, also recently passed away at age 17, but for many years he was a top-winning dog on the northeast herding trial circuit.         Skid earns the highest score in a dog obedience show!
