Puppy
Primer for Puppies 8 Weeks to 5 Months
Years ago, it was thought that formal training shouldn’t begin
until dogs were at least six months of age, but science has proven otherwise!
Studies indicate that a puppy’s formative months play an integral role
in its emerging personality. Therefore, puppies exposed to learning at
an early age are more responsive and have the greatest chance at becoming
ideal pets. This course is available as a four-week or six-week lesson
package, with individual sessions structured to your pup’s needs. Instruction
options include controlled walking; come when called; the sit, down, and
stay commands; plus other commands tailored to your lifestyle, if necessary.
Problem behaviors such as nipping and housebreaking can also be addressed.
Basic
Training for Dogs 6 Months and Over
Dogs of all ages benefit from good manners, and this course, although
similar to the one above, is taught in a manner appropriate for the mature
dog. It is available as a four-week or six-week lesson package, with individual
sessions structured to your pet’s needs. Instruction options include controlled
walking; come when called; the sit, down, and stay commands; plus other
commands tailored to your lifestyle, if necessary. Problem behaviors such
as jumping up and chewing can also be addressed.
Advanced
Concepts for Graduates of Puppy or Basic
The foundation work outlined above is refined and expanded in preparation
for off-leash training. In addition, the skills necessary to pass the American
Kennel Club’s Canine Good Citizen test are covered. Dogs must have completed
one of the courses above or must have completed a beginning level of training
at an approved local obedience school as a prerequisite. Available as a
four-week or six-week lesson package.
