~ALWAYS LOVED ALWAYS IN OUR HEARTS~

WE MISS YOU RICKY

Hi my name is Ashley Shover and I am a 2004 graduate of Buena Regional High School. My graduation along with 209 other students was taken away from us. Why you ask? Because we lost a dear friend. We were to graduate on Wednesday June 16th 2004 at 7 p.m. On Monday June 14th our beloved friend Ricky Wilcox was taken from us due to a severe car accident. On that day we lost a friend, a brother, and someone everyone loved dearly. Ricky was born in Gibbsboro, and moved to Buena at the age of two. He wrestled for the Buena Braves youth wrestling program. He attended Buena High School and was to graduate this week. A wrestler for the Buena Chiefs, he was a four-year starter on the wrestling team, amassing a 95-29 career record. He was a three time all-conference wrestler who qualified for the state championship three years in a row. In 2004, he rang up 27 wins and was runner-up at the District 32 and Region #8 championships. Ricky was to receive the annual Mickey Caprice award given to the team's outstanding wrestler. Because of his wrestling skills, Ricky had received numerous local scholarships. He also competed in the Mr. Buena pageant. He was planning to attend West Virginia University in the fall. In the summer he was a lifeguard at the Brunini Pool and also the Buena Campground. He enjoyed weight-lifting and hanging out with his friends. There has been a Memorial Scholarship in memory of Ricky set up. The Ricky Wilcox Scholarship fund was formed in memory of Ricky Wilcox, by his family and friends. Ricky was a well respected student athlete slated to attend West Virginia University. On June 14, 2004, his life was cut short the day before his high school graduation in a car accident. The scholarship fund has been set up in his honor, to recognize athletes who embody the qualities Ricky demonstrated to his school mates and opposing athletes. The scholarships are awarded on a yearly basis to students athletes who are attending college. Ricky was a standout wrestler at Buena Regional high School. He had many accomplishments and worked hard at achieving his goals He started wrestling at 6 years old and never tired of the sport. He had a steady workout partner, his brother Mike that he was so proud of. He loved life on and off the mat. He loved his family and friends and --he had many! He had a smile that we can never forget. To know Ricky was to love him. He is forever in our thoughts and our hearts
