Crutchy
"And guess what I done to his sauerkraut, huh? ."

Name: "Crutchy" Morris
Played by: Marty Belafsky

"Ah, remember what I told ya, Mr. Snyder. The first thing ya do in jail, make friends with the rats. Share what you got in common. ."

Description: A name plucked from the strike the movie is 'based' off of, Crutchy is one of Jack's closer friends...and a character that actually has more than two or three lines throughout the course of the movie (even when he's hauled off to the refuge). Crutchy is, if you don't already know, a cripple..or a 'gimp' as Ten Pin described him (much to Jack's annoyance). Crutchy has fears that people will think that his disability will be perceived as 'fake' seeing as there's 'so many fake crips on the streets these days'. From my own observations, Crutchy tries to fit in with the rest of the crew...occassionally cracking a joke or two. But unlike many of the newsies, Crutchy has a kind side of him that he demonstrates when talking to Wisel or Snyder. Crutchy is vastly protected by the various newsies in the cast, particularly by Jack Kelly.

"Jack, when I walk does it look like I'm fakin' it?"
