As U.S. Representative of Clan Rollo, I took the Clan Motto, LA FORTUNE PASSE PARTOUT, as my personal motto. This phrase is virtually untranslatable. Like many such mottos, it is a French pun, which depends on whether "Passe Partout" is a verb and noun, or whether "Passepartout" is a verb. With the former usage it means "Fortune Passes Round Everyone" whereas the latter usage means "Fortune is the Passport, or Key". Thus, the Rollo Clan Motto operates on at least three different levels:

1. The common place greeting "Good luck to everyone".

2. The more complex "Fortune in all things".

3. The philosophically challenging "Fate is the Key".
