Jan. 30th -

Introduction/Ice breakers - Summary of what we're all about for the newcommers

Mentoring Project w/Bridgeton High School  - want to try to go there twice a month

Feb. 20th -

No new SGA news.

T-shirts have been ordered. Should hopefully be in by next week.

Philly chapter event - Had a good time. Next event should be around March 12th. Should know more details next week.

Angry Jellow Bubbles - April 25th, going to try to rent Boyd Recital Hall (in Wilson)
Thinking about 2 performances, $10 a ticket, trying to see if we have to pay the $250 rental fee or not. We hope to do a lot of presales and also sell refreshments as well. We also hope to have a lot of publicity as well.

Service Project - "Cell Phones and Stuffed Animals for Battered Women and Children"
Still looking into places to put the boxes, probably Bozorth, Hawthorn, the Student Center and maybe Savitz as well. Dates for the drive are still the same, March 3rh through the the 13th

Fundraiser - If Angry Jellow Bubbles doesn't work out, then we're either thinking of a car wash and some type of bagel or bake sale.

Also looking for speakers for up coming meetings. We're looking into various people, such as some people from the Philly chapter and others. We're hoping to get someone for the next meeting.


Feb. 27th -

For the next two meetings (6th & 13th) we will be working on finalizing plans for Angry Jellow Bubbles. We need to work on publicity and are hoping to set up a table in the student center, and do 3 to 4 weeks worth of presale. The show is going to be held in Pfleeger Concert Hall (in Wilson), on April 26th, and tickets will cost $10. We also hope to sell t-shirts and food (baked goods) for the performances.

There are Open Houses on 3/2 and on 4/6.

And there are 3 speakers coming up. This month is Kelly Connor, who will be speaking with us on the 27th of this month, to discuss the importance of staying on in the nation organization and how it can help you.


Mar. 6th

The Philly chapter event is on Wednesday. Rsvp by Monday, March 10th..

Angry Jellow Bubbles - selling tickets in bozorth and at the info desk in the student center. (Start selling March 31st) Checks can be written for tickets. Checks should be made out to Angry Bubble Productions.

Day of show: selling soda, baked goods, popcorn, jello and t-shirts.

Last week of March radio station is doing promo. Women’s History month questions will be asked every day. Winners will receive a WIC tee and will be put into a drawing at the end of the week to win AJB tickets.

Help out with ticket selling if you can.

Speaker Kelly Connor, who talked about the importance of networking and how to make resumes better.

She also helped with brainstorming ideas on how to get the word out about Angry Jellow Bubbles. Lots of ideas were discussed.

Tickets for AJB are on sale now, so help out if you can.

Apr. 3rd
Speaker  Barbara Pachter of Pachter and Associates, discussing "Gender Etiquette in the Workplace" and "Breaking the Glass Ceiling."


Apr. 10th

Angry Jellow Bubbles on the 25th, still need some postions filled for the reshment table and other jobs at the performances.

We went over what everyone is doing for Angry Jellow Bubbles. Excitement is high :)

Professor Quigley talked about being a reporter and the some of the stories that she's covered.

Elections were held - check out the Election Page for results.

Pizza was had and enjoyed by everone and we decided to hold off on the plaque until next semester.

Congrats to all that were elected and to all that ran. Here's to looking towards 2003-2004!



Fall Semester '02


Sept. 12th -

The E-board and Chairs were introduced and then the new members introduced themselves.

 

Gina (the president) talked about being a national member and the dues that needed to be paid in order to be a member. Freshmen can’t be part of the national organization until the second semester because they need established GPAs. She also talked about the upcoming conference in Denver Oct 9-13.

 

The Breast Cancer Walk is our service project again this year. The walk organizers need volunteers to help out on the day of the walk. Anyone who wants a Breast Cancer Walk shirt can order one for $12.

 

The president talked briefly about our club history. She then talked about member involvement and sent around a paper for members to join committees.

 

The treasurer, Lindsay, talked about the fact that our club needs more money.

 

The program chair, Sam, talked about fundraising and guest speakers.

 

The publicity and newsletter chair, Casey, talked about Rowan Connections and the theme for the first newsletter. The theme is probably going to be: Milestones in a woman’s life: What it is to be a woman. Then a sign-up sheet was sent around for Rowan Connections.

 

The historian, Kate, talked about the scrapbook and said that if anyone ever finds any articles about the club they should give the articles to her.

 

The president mentioned the WGLS program, The Women’s Room.

 

Open House was mentioned briefly. We want to get a table set up for that.

 

A proposal was made to give guest speakers gifts. We’re thinking of giving mousepads.

 

We want to make club t-shirts. Ideas are being accepted for colors and the design and slogan. Put on your thinking caps.

 

Advisor involvment was discussed.

 

The president brought up the possibility of our club winning awards from the national chapter.

 

PRSSA was pitched. It’s 5pm Wed night in the library. They work with real clients. Good experience.

 

Channel 5 was pitched.

 

Sept. 19th - 

 

Brief intro by the president to the new members present.

 

Breast Cancer walk was brought up again.

 

SGA senator talked about the SGA meeting.

 

The program chair talked about possible guest speakers, most of them professors. She also briefly mentioned fundraising.

 

President brought up being approached by a high school that wants to start a women in communications club. The high school wants our club to speak to at the high school. Our advisor gave us the information on this high school women in communications program.

 

The president read the club the letter she sent to Mike Eliason, the vice president of finance for SGA, asking for more funds for the club.

 

Guest speaker Renee Aiello. She talked about getting a job after graduation.

Sept. 26th -

Introduced the new members

Talked about Breast Cancer Walk; try to get more people involved.

Rowan Connections was not exactly a success

Want to have an Info table in Boz along w/a bake sale the week of Oct. 14th; trying to recruit new members.

Fundraising; Cheesecakes, bead art, frames from Dollar Store (sounds like best idea), car wash, Christmas ornaments.

Want to have and end of the year Brunch possibly at Top Dog...about $10/person; maybe have an awards ceremony and Senior gifts, can invite parents, friends, and faculty if want to.
 
Open House is Oct. 20th; we'll have sign ups next week to sit at the info table.

All members must join one committee; main committees are Publicity and Program
 
Kate is accepting all kinds of things to be used in the scrapbook.

Old Business:

Everyone must pay for their own dues; $20/year

checks must be in by Thurs., Oct. 3rd.

Club might be paying for tee shirts w/our logo on it;  we need to pick which color/style we want.


Oct. 3rd -

October 15, 16, 17th - We will be having a bake sale in Bozorth. We need people to sit at the tables and to bake items for the sale

There was sign ups for our table for the Communication Department's Open House - October 20th (after the Breast Cancer Walk)

Dues are due no later than Monday. They must be given to Lindsey.

We also discussed possible t-shirt designs, and are currently looking into prices.

Fundraisiners will mostly likly be making picture frames and a car wash in the spring.

Reminder: There is no meeting next week, October 10th


Oct. 17th - 

*Long sleeved t-shirts are going to be made. We weren’t able to get them by the bake sale, but we hope to have them soon. Sizes were taken for shirts tonight.

*President’s report: Bake sale went well. We made $71.45. However, some people didn’t do what they were supposed to.

Breast Cancer Walk talked about. Carpools set up. Everyone is to meet at the walk. It starts at 10 a.m.

National Denver Conference: Our club one the national award for “Rising Chapter.”

*Speaker next meeting. Her name is Leslie Narvaez. She’s from Human Resources. She’s a Rutgers graduate and has a BA in English. She’s going to be talking about resumes and interviewing techniques.

*We’re going to have a PR speaker in November and then last year’s president is going to speak in December.

*Diane Penrod gave the president some information on student facilitators for a leadership program with kids. Also, a high school wants members of our group to come to speak to their journalism class.

*Yearbook picture next week at 7 p.m.

Oct. 24th - 

The Breast Cancer walk and Open House were discussed, as was the Leadership/Mentoring program.

Now is the time to start thinking about the December fundraiser.

T-shirts were discussed.

November 5th - The founder of Rowan WiC, Kate Degress will be in town. Meeting time roughly 7:30. Further details forthcoming.

November 7th - Pizza Party Social Event.

Newsletter articles due 11/7. Topic is "What it means to be a Woman." Articles are due between 100 to 150 words are to be given and e-mailed to Casey.

Speaker tonight - Lesley Narvaez. She spoke about Resumes, Cover Letters and the Interview. Very imformative and helpful, especially to those that are going to be graduating soon.

News: WiC awarded $500 supplement from SGA

Discussed the T-shirts, the proposal for Darla's school (attend meeting, etc..), and the next fundraiser. The picture fundraiser is scheduled to take place from Decemeber 9th through the 12th, from 11-2 in the Student Center. The fundraiser will be a make 'you're own frame' fundraiser. The end part of the meeting was spent working on the banner for the fundraiser.

The Award from National is located in the Bozorth throphy case on the third shelf. The case is located right outside of Bozorth 18, so stop by and check it out when you get a chance.

Dec 12th - 

Last meeting of the fall semester. Talked briefly about  the proposal for Darla's school (The Mentoring Program), and then heard tales of Grad School from last year's president and another former member of  Rowan's chapter of WiC
