Class of ’69:

Shortly after our 30th reunion, I received this heartfelt letter from Dorothy Degnan. The
following are selected excerpts from that letter. I hope you enjoy this and can find the time
to drop her a line – she’d enjoy hearing from you.

Pat Jordan

September 27, 1999

Dear Pat –

I’ve started this letter a hundred times. Each time I’m not satisfied with my paltry efforts to
express the depth of my gratitude to you and your committee for your kindness…

It was probably one of the most tenderly affirming experiences of my life – right up there with
the births of my three daughters and my seven grandchildren. I’ve always had a special
affection for each of you in the class of 1969. To feel it reciprocated is overwhelmingly sweet.

Perhaps it will be difficult to believe, but I do remember where my students sat in my room.
For instance, Bobby Reasso – 5th row 3rd seat. Rosemary Varga – 6th row 1st seat –
Walter Serafin – 5th row last seat. I could go on.

Here’s where I get real corny! Remember that scene in which Bing Crosby tells Ingrid Bergman
to dial “O” for O’Malley if she ever needs him. Please tell each and every member of the class to
dial “D” for Dorothy Degnan if there is anything I can do to help whatever spot they’re in.

Please invite me to the year 2004. I’m starting my diet today.

Love eternally,

Dorothy Degnan

P.S. God bless you and yours.
