  • Learner will develop the ability interpret graphs related to pollen conditions. 


Assessment #1
Students will go to a National Allergy Bureau site, Pollen Count Information.
After selecting the site, the student must scroll down to NAB Pollen History Graph and type the date Jan 1998, then click on graph.  A graph of pollen counts for a several month period of time will be displayed.  Use the data to answer the following open-ended questions: 
1.  According the graph, what period of time would you consider to be allergy season for 
     Cherryhill, New Jersey? 
2.  Describe possible weather conditions during the month of September 1998 and explain in 
     detail how the data lead you to these conclusions. 
3.  Describe possible weather conditions for Wednesday, April 22, 1998 and explain in 
     detail how the data lead you to these conclusions.

Assessment #2
Students will use a National Allergy Bureau site, Pollen and Spore Report,  to answer the following questions: 
1.  According to the graph, what is the period of time that pollen counts are the highest for 
 the Mulberry tree? 
2.  According to the graph, what is the period of time that allergy sufferers are not bothered by pollen from Maple trees?
