Review of NABMI in Sigillum Diaboli
Krieg-Rise of the Imperial Hordes
You want sick fucking black metal??? Then you want Krieg... one of the sickest releases I've heard in years. Rise of the Imperial Hordes is just straight, sick, ear crushing black metal from begining to end. This release is truely ugly, the way black metal was meant to be. I'm sure this one will piss off fans of the swedish sound and definately leave the Cradle of Filther's crying home to mommy, not to mention the hordes of Norgay. Vocals are very grim, disgusting and extreme, the music is just unrelenting chaos for the full 30-some minute length of the cd... except for the intro, outro and the short break in the middle of the cd, of course. My favorite tracks include the haunting "As Humanity Fades" and the eerie "Path of Soth." Are you ready for war??? Get this album!!!!

USBM.. Something that raises very different opinions within this editors
mind, on one hand I think utter pretentiousness filled with over inflated
ego’s. On the other, I think of truly
extreme music that is completely over the top. Fortunately, this split CD
falls into the latter category. Kult of Azazel starts the split off with an
intro followed by four songs of utterly
disgusting Black metal. The band has their own style, it is both break neck
speed and brutal. The vocals are completely over the top and sound as if they
are quite painful for the
vocalist to complete a recording. Musically the band is flawless, dark, yet
sick riffing with drums that are almost machine-like. What more can be said?
You want it black? Here it is.
Next up is Krieg, this is where all structure and anything remotely
harmonic dies. Krieg is on their way to being the new kings of Chaotic Black
Metal. In fact, I would
be so bold as to say that Krieg makes old Beherit and Blasphemy sound
structured and harmonic. Lord Imperial has once again upped the ante for
others to try to match his sheer
intensity and sickness, especially within the vocal department. Musically the
band might not be the tightest, nor do they have a nice big “Abyss Studio”
production, but if they had
such, they would lose all their charm!!
To conclude this review, I will just say that the USBM scene may indeed
be filled with a lot of pretentious egomaniacs that are more concerned with
attitudes over
music, thankfully these two acts can be excluded from such a scene. An
essential release for anyone wanting to hear some GREAT USBM. Rating 100/100 -Ultimo Compartio
No fancy shit here, not even a title for this two horned assault on the
senses. KULT OV AZAZEL have of course recently been signed to Arctic
Music,
but this is my first exposure to their raw form of black metal. It
appears
the rumors of their potency were true. Totally kult and low-fi. Quite
possibly even wilder sounding than THORNSPAWN, yet much more melodic.
KRIEG
have been kicking around for ages now, and again, this is the first
thing I've actually heard from them. I believe I'll be seeking out their other
releases, for their style of massively underproduced black war metal
holds its own against the likes of BEHERIT and BLASPHEMY. These are two bands that
stand for what black metal truly is about, and their integrity is without question. A thousand, thousand hails to both of them!- Metal Nightmare Zine
The Church is everything black metal should be raw, under-produced, an
absolute chore to listen to for the un-initiated ear. Lord Imperial is
certainly not trying to win any new fans over with this 5-song MCD. If
anything, he seems to be striving to push his detractors even farther away. 4
of the 5 songs on this release are what was originally released as the
Forgotten Secrets demo, with the 5th song, "To Wander the Stars," another
version of the second track which, ironically, is from the original release
of The Church demo. The first four songs feature Duane Timlin from
Sarcophagus on drums. Like on Judas Iscariot's recent gem, the Dethroned,
Conquered and Forgotten EP, Duane kicks the material up in intensity with his
lightning fast precision playing. Unlike Dethroned, Conquered and Forgotten,
however, the material on The Church is no more polished or accessible than
previous efforts from Krieg. The aforementioned 5th track features Teloc
Coraxo of the mighty Bloodstorm turning in a less-impressive performance that
actually serves to make the song even more raw.
Imperial holds true to the anti-aesthetics established on Krieg's debut
album, Rise of the Imperial Hordes, delving even deeper into the recesses of
the black metal genre to churn out some truly putrid music. This EP is chaos
embodied with no concern for production values, pretentiousness or pomp.
Hails to Krieg for keeping underground black metal firmly rooted in the filth
in which it belongs. - Al Kikuras, Unchain the Underground
This is so caustic it could remove paint from a brand new car. Raw harsh no
mercy black metal holocaust from Imperial of the one man show known as Krieg.
This clocks in at around 20 mins and I honestly have to say I don't think
there is a more over the top CD I've ever heard. The guitars are just pure
razors and the drums once again are played by that of a mad man or men I
should say. As after 4 tracks it seems as Krieg killed the 1st drummer and
needed to bring in replacement for the 5th and final track. This is what
Judas Iscariot wishes they could be as live imperial is that project as well.
If this CD were any longer it would need a warning to people with heart
conditions not to use with prolonged use. The Harsh US BM Scene has one true
hope and its name is KRIEG!!!!!! -DragonFlight zine
As much as I support what this band is doing, the first 4 songs [of this EP] are beyond the point of conversation. So underproduced it ceases to be music. Thus I'd probably listen to them now and again to remind myself what the most UNcommercial black metal on earth sounds like, but for a chunk of your paycheck, I can only recommend this to a very select few. - Hellfrost.com
...while everybody did expekt Inquisition to come on stage, one had to witness Krieg & itz leader Lord Imperial (vokalz) & Lord Soth [not true, Soth's been out of the band for years, was Wrath of Averse Sefira] appearing instead, ready to burn the place.
Krieg is the band for which I did the travel, & I was dissapointed by the band who did delivered a set limited to 5 or 6 tracks (considering their track listing did enclose around 15 or so)
really sad, considering that the band live is really excellent, hateful & full of aggression.
The audience did feel the same & even Akhenaten of Judas Iscariot, headbangin & screaming non stop at the front of the stage during this way too short stageshow.
...then came KRIEG and, obviously, many people was waiting for this first European concert from one of the leading and rawest US bands. Their set was quite short : only 4 tracks + 1 VON cover " Satanic Blood " for the finale. The reason was that their guitarist went to jail few days before the tour so they had to "build" in a very fast time-limit a new line up ( the bass player became guitarist and a new guy joined on bass ). KRIEG music was as chaotic and powerfull as on their releases so, the fans were fill up with Black Metal violence and definitively wanted more than the 20 minutes the band was only able to give...
