Second Marking Period Project

"Cells"

This marking periods project will focus on the structures and functions of the parts of a typical cell. You will have several options to choose from. When you make your decision for the option that interests you, you must stay with that choice for the duration of the project. Creativity is a plus, especially with your presentations!

    Important pieces of information:
  • Projects will be due _______________
  • Presentations ____________
  • Project option due ____________
  • Parent/Guardian Initial due_____________
  • Group size: 1-3 students
Option #1 - 3-D Cell Model

In this option you will need to construct a 3 dimensional model of either a plant cell or an animal cell. It will be your choice as to how you build/construct the model as long as it is 3-D. All of the organelles must be clearly represented and labeled on the model, the functions of each should also be a part of this model.

Presentation: 2-3 min. explanation of why you chose the items you did to construct your model, what is the significance of each material?

Option #2 - Cell Game

Create a game that will teach other students about either the parts of a plant cell or an animal cell (you can do both, just make sure it’s clear to your "learner"). The game may be of any style as long as it’s purpose is learning about the appearance, function and arrangements of the organelles in a cell.

Presentation: Advertisement/commercial about the game, 2-3 min

Option #3 - Cell Comics

Create a comic book that will teach other students about the differences between a plant cell and an animal cell. The comic book should also teach someone about the appearance, function and arrangement of the organelles in each cell.

Presentation: act out a 2-3 min skit based on your comic book

Option #4 - Cell Song

Write and perform a song about the organelles of plant cells and animal cells. The song should describe the appearance, arrangement and function of each structure.

Presentation: must be done "live" in class, you can "lip sync" to a prerecorded tape
