Habitat: This millipede has made its home amongst the
wildflowers in Vermont, where it waits with its tongue outstretched.
Food Source: small flying insects
such as fruit flies, ladybugs and
termites
Predators: Garden snakes, toads,
field mice
Structural Adaptations: The sticky tongue secretes a sugary solution to attract other
insects. They land on the tongue and are immediately rolled into
the millipede’s mouth.
