flatland competition formats

ok so here i am in the uk or good ole england and im bored stiff so i went to a cyber cafe and got my mail and put some news up but im now bored again. so whats this has to do with this article, maybe nothing and then maybe it has to do i was thinking of this article on the tour bus while listening to abba-you know the swedish 70's band. ok i guess what i will be talking about is what we feel is the ultimate format to be used in flatland and by NO MEANS is this F-R-O TRYING TO TELL ALL THE SANCTIONS HOW TO RUN THEIR COMPS OR HOW TO DO THERE FLATLAND FORMATS. we "WOULD NOT" do that and this is a "SUGGESTION" of a good format to use and here is the format we came up with.

2 minute runs in an pre-order selection and the riders would go out and do as much as they could in two minutes and this would be 50% OF THE JUDGING.

after an 15 minute rest period as long as it takes the judges to get all the stuff written and everything put together for the runs section of the comp then the second part would be run and that is......

a 30-40 minute jam circle(depending on number of riders) where riders would take turn going out and riding til they fell off.the simple rules is that you cant do the same tricks you did in the run session as your run is over, you fall your run is over and this means you bust out your hardest stuff and will really show where everyone is in their riding and also most important is the jam circle is more non competitive and fun and you can relax, bust out and really hang out as most comps should be like.the jam sesion of the comp is also 50% so basically you have an more competitve prtion of the comp and then a more fun and laid back portion where you can hang out, ride and bust out what you can do and still get paid for it if your pro.

WE FEEL THIS FORMAT IS GOOD FOR BOTH PROS AND AMATEUR and we feel that the amateur class has too many gaps in that all the experts, intermediate and experts are put in one big "AMATEUR CLASS" and we suggest and again this is ONLY A SUGGESTION that the amateur class be broken into a "A" amateur AND AN "B" amateur class and the "B" amateur class are made of beginners and nitermediates as they are close enuff trick wise and alot of sanction do combine the classes since lack of riders. the "A" amatuer class is made of experts and we also feel that after 5 top 3 finishes in an "B" AMATUER CLASS THE RIDER SHOULD MOVE UP TO THE "A" AMATEUR CLASS.

we do feel an "A" AMATEUR CLASS RIDER SHOULD MOVE UP TO PRO WHEN THEY FEEL LIKE THEY ARE READY AND SHOULD NOT BE PUSHED and if they get 5 top 3 finishes in "A" doesnt mean they should go pro as the pro class is one of the hardest classes in freestyle and maybe not everyone will agree with us but we think it is.

we again will say that THIS IS ONLY A SUGGESTION OF A GOOD FLATLAND FORMAT AND WE AT F-R-O ARE NOT TRYING TO TELL ANYONE HOW TO RUN THEIR COMPS AND BY NO MEANS TRYING TO BE PUSHY IN ANY WAY. we do care about flatland and care what happens to flatland so this is why we are writing this as it will be out there for everyone to see and think about and probably talk shit about in the backlash forum BUT WE WONT GO INTO THAT. we will hopefully come up with some ideas about judging but again that is real hard since flatland is an art form and art forms aree always hard to judge as everyone has their own styles and ART FORM OF FLATLAND.
