This is Rolling Thunder

Rolling Thunder usually doesn't race, but when it does, it is a special treat.

This is Rolling Thunder, the only wooden roller coaster at Six Flags Great Adventure. It debuted in 1979 and was one of the tallest and fastest roller coasters in the world. Rolling Thunder's first hill is 96 feet high, and at the bottom of the 85 foot drop it reaches speeds of up to 55 miles per hour. Rolling Thunder used to race, with one train going forward and the other going backward. Now they both run forward, usually one at a time. I like both of the sides; the right side seems to be a little faster at times, and the left side gives more air time. Rolling Thunder is definitely a roller coaster that will remain on my list of favorites for a long time. (Picture courtesy www.coasters.net)
