This is Hypersonic XLC
When Hypersonic XLC opened at Paramount Kings Dominion in 2001, it was seen as a revolution in launched rides' capabilities. 80 Miles Per Hour; a speed that most coasters can't dream of approaching. Hypersonic reaches that in just 1.8 seconds. It probably takes longer to say "Hypersonic XLC" than it does for this air-powered monstrosity to achieve that crazy speed. Yes, the ride only lasts 17 seconds, its only major fault. But its radical launch, 90-degree climb, 90-degree descent, intense turn-around, and bunny-hop finale will leave you breathless on one of the most intense rides on the face of the earth. Though I think Kings Dominion's own Volcano is a better overall ride, nothing in my experience can actually rival this baby's launch. It may seem ridiculous to wait about an hour on a summer day for such a short ride. But in this case, you'll just have to make an exception. (Picture taken by me)
