This is Cedar Downs

Yep, that's right, a caroussel made my favorite non-coaster ride list. You're laughing right now, I know. But don't let the fact that it's a caroussel fool you; this ride is really cool. First of all, Cedar Downs at Cedar Point is one of only two left of its kind in North America (the other is located in Rye Playland in New York). This is sort of like a caroussel on steroids, actually. The ride goes approximately 14-16 miles per hour, and the horses seem to race. When the two middle horses go forward, the side ones go back, and vica versa. This ride gives you a great feeling of lateral g's and centrifugal force. Another great point is that since most people think this is an ordinary caroussel, there rarely is a huge line. Even if there is, this ride can take up to 40 riders per circuit. It is an excellent family ride, though I must admit it's a little bit on the tame side. I think that as far as caroussel-type rides go, this one is tough to beat.
