Hi, my name is Albert and I live in the USA, in the state of New Jersey. As you can see this page was made to promote one of Yamaha's best motorcycles made: an old, good, vertical twin. The name of the bike (or its motor) is "XS650". The first of its family was introduced to the world at the and of the 1960s, I think '68 or '69. The bike was named "XS650-1". The way it looks to me, the whole idea was to make the motorcycle look like british classic bikes, very well known and popular at that time all over the world. Even here, in the States, "BSA" and "Triumph" were respected a lot. Personally, I think that "Yamaha" did a very good job cloning british bikes: classy looking vertical twin engine, high clearance, flat dual seat located high above the ground , narrow tires, and so on. I don't know about you guys, but I like their later models more - "SPECIAL"s. Not that the motor was much different. I am talking about their looks. And I think "special" models are also more comfortable to ride. Do you agree? By the way, for you who didn't know it, "Yamaha" continued making this family of motorcycles until the year 1983. At least this was the last year when they were sold in the United States. Fifteen years! This should tell you something about the bike. And I am the lucky owner of one of them. A 1983 "YAMAHA XS650 Heritage Special" is my motorcycle. Here you can see some pictures of it before the "Big Choppa' Project" (1, 2, 3).
