Tae Kwon Do

Learn To Walk Without Fear

introduction

Tenafly Community Tae Kwon Do Teaches Chun Do Quan Tae Kwon Do which is a tradition form of Tae Kwon Do it's emphasis is on creating a balanced well rounded martial artist.  Unlike tournament oriented styles of Tae Kwon Do which focus mostly on kicking techniques Chun Do Quan's emphasis is on striking a balance between kicking and punching which makes it a more effective style both in tournaments and on the street which is the true test of the useful a martial art is.  In addition Chun Do Quan puts a large emphasis on forms which are a set patterns of attacks and defensive maneuvers which were created hundreds of years ago. This creates a direct link to the past and the history of Tae Kwon Do giving the student a true appreciation of Tae Kwon Do and a respect for the Martial Arts.  In addition to Tae Kwon Do students will also learn self defense techniques, and grappling which adds even more to the eye opening education that you will receive Tenafly Community Tae Kwon Do.

The Classes

Tenafly community Tae Kwon Do offers two classes the adult class and the kid's class.

The Kid's Class meets from 6:00-7:00pm and the Adult's Class meets from 7:00-8:30 and are located at the Jewish Community Center (JCC) on the Palisades.  The address is 411 East Clinton Ave. Tenafly, New Jersey 07670.

Belt System

One of the most well known and respected aspects of the martial arts is the belt rank and while our emphasis is more on education then belt rank we have an 8 belt system of white, yellow, orange, green, purple, red, brown, and then black.  A student advances in rank only when the instructor feels he or she is ready then they must go through a exhaustive pre-test and a test in front of the highest ranking belts.  Only after the pre-test and test are passed will the next belt be awarded I know this sounds difficult, but it is not impossible and gives a great sense of accomplishment when the next belt is attained.
