News Flash... On August 1, 2009, Onyx's son Leo became the first Cardigan Welsh Corgi AKC Triple Champion!!! Check out his page--the link is at the bottom of this page.

On July 20, 2008 Onyx and I earned our Master Agility Championship 2!!! From Novice A to MACH 2...who would have guessed? Thank you Beth, Donna, Beverly, Teryl, Sylvia, Mike, and all of the friends we have made along the way. Without all of you we would not have gotten anywhere!

Onyx earned his Tracking Dog title in April of 2006! This accomplishment earned him the AKC Versitle Companion Dog 1 title, making him the 5th Cardigan Welsh Corgi in history to earn this honor. His son, Rain, was the 4th Cardigan Welsh Corgi to earn this title when he finished his Novice JWW title earlier in April 2006! Way to go father and son!

Onyx is my first show/performance dog. He is a Cardigan Welsh Corgi and is the light of my life. When I met my little furball in May of 2000, I had no idea what was in store for us. Having never put any titles on a dog, I only hoped to complete his breed championship--Onyx had other ideas...

2005

Onyx continued his success in the agility ring. He earned both his Master Excellent Standard and Master Jumper With Weaves titles in 2005. He also racked up nine Double Qualifying runs towards the elusive MACH title. We will continue to work towards the MACH in 2006. Hopefully, Onyx will maintain the athleticism and enthusiasium necessary to gain this remarkable achievement held by very few cardigans. As of the end of 2005, only 13 cardigan welsh corgis had attained this honor, including Onyx's sister Desi!

2004

Onyx earned third place for his final leg to complete his Excellent Jumpers with Weaves agility title (AXJ) on his first run in 2004! This accomplishment also qualified him for his Cardigan Welsh Corgi Club of America Versatiltiy Excellent award! The same day he also earned a first place leg toward his Excellent Standard agility title. Onyx finished his Excellent Standard title in September 2004 and is all in Excellent B now. We will try to keep working on those MX and MXJ legs and gaining those MACH points! Way to go Onyx!

2003

Onyx continued to get his biggest kicks in agility in 2003. This year he earned both his Open Standard (OA) and Open Jumpers With Weaves (OAJ) titles with very limited trialing. He went on to earn 2 Excellent Jumpers With Weaves legs and hopefully, will finish that title up next spring. Excellent agility sure is challenging since all runs must be fast and clean! Onyx continued his herding training with his buddy Amanda and is learning the finer points of working at the trial level. He also was finally taken into the obedience ring by my good friend Donna. The two of them made achieving the CD look easy--what a pair!

2002

Onyx began the year by earning his Canine Good Citizen Certificate. He earned his HT at our first two herding tests and it did not bother him a bit when I fell flat in the mud. Then, with the coaching of Donna Lonnquist and Beth Magnus, we began our agility career. Onyx and I earned our Novice Agility Jumpers title at our first three trials with three perfect scores and three blue ribbons, which qualified us for the "Front and Finish" Excellence Agility Platinum Award! We followed up with our Novice Agility Standard title, including two firsts and a third placement. With the help of his friend Amanda, Onyx earned his PT at his next herding weekend which qualified him for his CWCCA Versatiltiy Certificate!!! FYI: The dog must have titles in three different AKC venues with one being at the mid-level or above to qualify for the CWCCA Versatility Certificate. I am honored that my first show/performance dog has earned his place among the breeds versatiltiy cardigans at the age of two an a half! On the Conformation front, Onyx's breeder took him on a summer vacation and brought him back as a Canadian Champion--thanks! And his kids out of CH Springshire's Blue Champaign are off to a nice start.

2001

Onyx began 2001 by earning his first major at Rockland County. He continued earning Championship points and was awarded his second major at the Plainfield KC show in May by breeder judge, Mrs. Marieann Gladstone. He finished his Championship at the Sand and Sea shows in New Jersey in August. Onyx and I began agility training in the fall of 2001. He had such a natural talent and drive for the sport that we were able to begin competing in the spring of 2002. And finally, on September 8, 2001 we were blessed with a litter of 5 healthy puppies out of CH Springsihre's Blue Champaign.

Thank you Beth Magnus for entrusting me with this versatile cardigan. And thank you Beth, Donna Lonnquist, and Genie Bishop for showing me the possibilities and for your confidence in me and my boy.

Onyx continues to take us places I never imagined we'd be!!!

Did someone say sheep???

Onyx is continuing his herding training with his friend and handler, Amanda Nickel.

The judge who awarded him his final leg for his PT commented on his score sheet that Onyx was a "great dog" and did a "good job"! Thank you Mr. Baudet!

In 2001, Onyx completed his AKC and UKC Championships. He is pictured winning his second major at the Plainfield KC show. Thank you Mrs. Marieann Gladstone for this very special win!

Onyx continues to blast through the agility rings! In 2003, with very limited trialing, we finished both Onyx's Open Standard (OA) and Open Jumper (OAJ) titles and went on to earn two legs in Excellent Jumper! Onyx really loves agility!

2003 also took Onyx back to the Obedience ring. Onyx had been ready for his CD for some time, but due to his mother's lack of confidence in that venue, we never went for it. My good friend, Donna decided it was time for Onyx to get that CD title, and took my boy for a couple of months to see how he would perform with her. They qualified their first three attempts in three shows and showed me how it is done. Huge thanks to Donna!

Onyx earns his TD with his good buddy Beverly Olsen on 4/30/06. This also qualified him for his VCD1! Onyx is the 5th Cardigan in history to earn this title, following his son, Rain, who was the 4th! Thank you Bev!

Onyx and Corky's daughter has also completed her Championship and is now

Andie qualified for her HT title at the Burlington County Kennel Club's spring herding trial in May 2003. She and Amanda followed that up with her PT title in the fall of 2003. Andie earned both her Novice Standard and Novice Jumpers agility titles in the first half of 2004. She is now taking a well deserved break from dog competitions to enjoy her favorite activity... sitting on the windowsill being the queen of all she surveys! In 2007 Andie and Donna returned to the agility rings to earn her advanced titles through MXJ and AX. Way to go!

Presenting "Rainman" owned by Beverly Olsen.

Who says dogs can't fly???

Rain is a littermate to Andie and Leo and is having a great time running in agility. He has completed both his Herding Tested and Pre-Trial Tested herding titles and is working towards his Herding Started title. He is doing very well with his tracking training and easily earned his TD title. Rain also excels in Rally Obedience and is doing well in regular AKC Obedience too!

Rain is now AKC/UKC CH Corwynt's Glaw Dyn O Rhewlld VCD1, RA, OA, OAJ, PT!

Rain and Sassy's son, CH Corwynt Tayken Rain's Li'l Bit O Sunshine, HT, finished his AKC Championship on June 26, 2005 at the Staten Island Show!
