      The Goal:
The students will participate in a collaborative learning activity based on a scenario designed to heighten their critical and analytical thinking skills.

Objective 1: Students will determine the amount of wattage per square inch using a solar (photovoltaic) cell.

Objective 2: Students will be able to evaluate the connection between power output and their location on earth.

Objective 3: The project is also designed to demonstrate to the students alternative energy sources.

      PRE-ACTIVITY
Test  voltage of a standard battery by using a multimeter.
Test maximum voltage and current (amperage) of the solar cell.
This can be done by placing the solar cell on an
overhead projector and recording the results.
      Volts x Amps = Watts

Make sure to convert Current (Amperage) into amps.
Most solar cell output are in milliamps. Divide by 1000.
