I looked at the mobile for a minute before putting it down. What did he have to be so upset about? It was all his fault anyhow. I was here in England trying to keep our relationship alive while he was out and about going to different places and not calling. I plopped myself in my chair and took a deep breath. I picked up my script and flipped through the pages, attempting to study my lines. But I just couldn’t my mind was still on Abs. I reached over and picked up the mobile. I’m just going to call him and we’ll talk it out just like we used to. Then I put the phone down. Why did I always have to be the one that called and tried to fix things? Dan you’re not going to do it. If he wants to talk he’ll ring you. I picked up my script again and forced my thoughts away from the need to call him.
An hour later, lines later, there was a knock on my dressing room door.
“Come in”, I said my eyes still locked on the papers.
“So you must be ecstatic!” Kate said.
“What?”, I answered looking up.
“That Abs is back from promoting! I just heard from my sister. Apparently she was at the airport when they arrived and called me to ask you if you could get her some autographs being that you are close to a certain member and all”, she replied her eyes twinkling.
“He’s back in England?”, I said surprised.
“You didn’t know?”, she said puzzled.
“No-he didn’t mention it”, I answered softly frowning.
“Oh gosh! I hope I didn’t ruin some surprise he had planned”, she said apologetically.
“What surprise?”, Ian said as he walked in.
“You again? Didn’t you just leave?”, I teased my disposition lightning up.
“I just came by to make sure you were going out tonight”, he answered.
“I don’t think she will Ian- Abs is back in town. I’m sure she’ll be spending every second of her time with him”, Kate responded.
At the sound of Abs name I flinched. I could not believe he hadn’t said anything to me. I can’t believe he hadn’t called back to try to straighten out our relationship. I sat there for a moment and thought about what I was going to do.
“Abs then”, Ian said sadly looking me straight into the eye. At least some people care enough to want to spend time with me.
“Actually I’m not going to be seeing him tonight”, I answered as Kate gave me a confused look. I gave Ian a smile and rose out of my chair. “I’ve got a scene. I’ll talk to you both later”, I continued walking out the door onto the set.
“So what should we do first?”, Scott asked me.
We were sitting on the sofa at his parents house. Just looking at him made me realize how much I’d missed him. I reached over and gave him a kiss.
“Well if you insist on doing that...”, he teased pulling me in for another kiss. I pulled away and smiled.
“That’s not what I meant”, I laughed as I poked him in the stomach. He gave me a mock heartbroken look then grinned. Why couldn’t it always be like this I thought. Why did he always have to leave. I let out a small sigh. But I guess it hadn’t been that quiet.
“What’s on your mind?”, Scott asked me a bit of concern in his voice. I looked over at him. Why did he have to be so great. It would just made me miss him even more.
“How long are you here for?”, I asked.
“Oh....”, he replied understandingly. “Well maybe a week or two. I’m not sure I’d have to check the schedule....can we not talk about work right now Kerry? I’ve just gotten home”, he said his forehead wrinkling.
“Sure”, I replied as I put my head on his shoulder shutting my eyes and pretending that he was going to be around for good. “Sure...”
“We’re here”, I heard Jessica say as she shook me awake. My eyes fluttered open and I looked out the airplane window. I was home. I was going to see Ritch.
I grabbed my carry-on and proceeded to walk out towards the gate. I looked around to see if I was going to be confronted by any hateful fans. Surprisingly enough there weren’t any around. I let out a sigh of happiness and relief.
“Good to hear you don’t hate your life as much as you did before”, Jessica remarked as we walked through the airport, a small grin on her face. I returned her smile not wanting to tell her the reason I was a bit happier than before.
“So what’s the first thing you’re going to do when you get back to your place?”, she asked as we got into the limo.
“See Ritch of course”, I replied not containing my happiness of the prospect of seeing him. I looked out the limo window and saw something out of the corner of my eye. I picked up the small piece of paper that had caught my attention from the other side of the seat. I opened it up and read it, my face paling.
“Billie? What is it?”, I heard Jessica noticing my expression. I handed her the note.
“Stop smiling Billie. I wouldn’t be so happy if I was about to die. You’re going to get what you deserve and Ritch will be all mine”, she read aloud and with each word I felt myself getting paler and paler.
