  7. teenage fanclub. classified as "zit pop" or "pimple" or something else *acne poppin' fresh* by nytimes.
  8. built to spill. it's all about the new album's first two tracks.
  9. half-japanese. so influential no one's heard of them.
  10. sleater-kinney. addictive.
  11. silver jews. occasionally boring but the lyrics compensate. who can't not like a song that opens: "in 1984 i was hospitalized for approaching perfection"?!
  12. the apples (in stereo). some crazy shit.
  13. the figgs. better than eve 6. not that that says a lot.
  14. de la soul. yay rap.
  15. radiohead. my physics teacher said the only answer to an extra credit question was "AC/DC," but i caught her with "Radiohead."

  22. liz phair. well, i've pretty much gotten all the stereotypical indie rock bases covered, haven't i?
