Top 2005-2006 Jersey Shore Football recruits

1) Knowshon Moreno Middletown South 5-11/200 RB (Georgia bound) - NEW JERSEY'S ALL TIME LEADING SCORER ...  I along with Tom Lemming of CSTV both agreed that Moreno has the talent to become a GREAT collegiate TB.  He has a blend of excellent size, speed (4.44 forty), vision and moves. An extremely flexible player – Moreno plays even bigger than his actual size. To this point - Moreno has amassed rushing 4,470 yards and has received just about 10 offers from some of the nation’s top program … the offer list will increase once the season starts. On my www.Eliterecruits.com New Jersey TOP 50 recruits (class of 2006) - I ranked Moreno as the BEST prospect the state has to offer.

2) Keith Heaney (Lafayette bound) Middletown South 6-3/225 MLB – Heaney is another tough and rugged player that the Eagles can turn to for a BIG PLAY. Has good size and speed … played DE in the past but will now line-up at MLB. If you think Heaney is impressive on defense – he is almost as good as a RB on offense. Heaney’s recruiting stock has risen since recently … has Division I talent and size!

3) Nick Macaluso Middletown South 6-3/230 LB (Stanford bound) – Macaluso is a tall LB who hits as hard as anyone around the state. He is one of the smartest players the state has to offer as well. Macaluso carries a 4.48 GPA (on a 4.5 scale) ... made 90 tackles in '04 along with 7 sacks!  Macaluso has garnered offers from Duke, Rutgers , Kansas , Boston College Michigan State among others … the list if growing.

4) Lou Eliades Ocean Twp.(Penn State bound) 6-4/285 OLM – An agile BIGMAN who has seen his stock-rise this past spring. Received first offer in March and has hauled in another 20 plus. Eliades gets after the defender - and into to the secondary in a hurry. He has named Virginia, South Carolina, Tennessee, Maryland and Virginia Tech as his favorites. Eliades will have a group of OLM challenging him for this TOP OFFENSIVE LINEMAN spot.  

5) Darius Morris (Temple bound) Long Branch 6-4/275 OLM - Agile OLM who possesses quick feet - uses arms very well on the defender. Has received a handful of offers from Division I programs. Refused to give up a sack in ’04!  Morris will participate in an All American in January of 2005.

6) Matt Hardison Freehold Twp 6-3/230 LB/TE - Had a great Elite College Combine ... very athletic and strong. Has a frame that can handle another 10-15 pounds easily. Hardison possesses agile movement, superb hands and PACKS A PUNCH when tackling. Because he so athletic, he can play either TE or LB at the collegiate level.

7) Jason Simmons Matawan 6-5/190 WR - Long - rangy WR  ... utilizes his basketball skills to out-jump defenders. Simmons, who possesses deceptive speed - has received early offers from NC State and Louisville following his Elite College Combine performance this past May.

8) Tim Kukucka Wall 6-3/230 DE – Kukucka is a player who has flourished this past spring. Started offensive-tackle for the Knights in ’04 – but will be a primed-recruit at defensive-end. Kukcuka added 10 pounds to his frame and has also become a faster player and stronger player. He has the quickness to go around the opposition (4.6 speed in the 40) and the power to go through. Recently bench pressed 325 pounds … has schools like Maryland , Delaware , Richmond all seeking his talents. May end-up doing a prep year to mature and fill-out his frame a bit more.    

9) Ryan Nani Toms River North 6-2.5/310 DLM – Nani is one of the most massive and fundamentally-sound defensive-lineman around. Very strong and is often unblockable … received his first collegiate offer in July. Nani has a very impressive first-step and utilizes his arms very well.

10) Mike Lepore Brick Memorial 6-1.5/192 WR - LePore opened some eyes at this year's Elite College Combine. Runs good routes and creates just-enough separation! Leopore has drawn in offers from the likes of New Hampshire and has received interest and praise from D1A schools including Notre Dame and Wisconsin . Has run his pro-agility in a stunning 4.1 seconds (official Elite College Combine results).

11) Ryan Finnegan Rumson Fair Haven 6-4/205 WR - Had a slight set-back (a minor injury) in the spring ... but has made a strong come-back. A smooth - tall and confident WR with a lot of ability … causes havoc for the opposition with these characteristics.

12) Chris James Brick Memorial 6-1/190 QB – James threw for 1,528 yards and 16 scores in ’04. In the past two seasons – James has accounted for 2,586 passing yards and is 16-7 as a starter. James is also a threat as a runner where he will also tuck-it and make the defender miss. Strong and accurate arm!  

13) Jaashawn Jones Asbury Park 6-1/225 LB - Jones is the type of player that can and will play anywhere for a team. He utilized his size in ’04 to play linebacker, running-back and special teams for the Blue Bishops. A weight-room fanatic who has made sure he applied himself in the classroom as he has on the football field. Determined to succeed – Jones roams the field with this type of determination. Jones is being recruited by numerous Division I colleges.

14) Daryll Jackson Red Bank Regional 6-1/310 DLM/FB - Jackson may trim down to 290 and still be a force with his size. Has a quick first step and is strong battling within the interior line. Utilizes hands well on defense and has played FB as well where he utilizes his soft hands to haul in passes. Jackson ’s collegiate position will be on the defensive-line and has drawn in attention from many of the nations Division I programs for his ability to play there. Jackson   is scheduled to play in an All American in January of 2005.

15) Keith McPherson Ocean Twp. 6-1/190 QB – McPherson may possibly have the strongest arm the state has to offer. Has good quickness and speed (4.4 forty) and agility. Plays in a run-oriented offense but has averaged more than a 1,000 total yards each season he has played for the Spartans ... shined at the Elite College Combine. McPherson has been offered scholarships for his quarter-backing skills by more than six Division I programs.

16) Aulander Daniels Long Branch 5-10/190 Ath. - Daniels will line-up at DB and QB for the Green Wave in ‘05. Is one of the hardest hitters around and is very athletic. Also returns kicks and thrives on being in the WEIGHTROOM. Daniels excelled at the ’05 Elite College Combine – exhibiting his quickness and agility.

17) Cory Nelms Neptune 6-0/180 DB – Nelms is one of the areas best defensive-backs. With the blend of speed (4.4), smooth footwork and transitions and size – Nelms has the tools to be a “top recruit”. In ’04, he picked-off two passes from his FS position and three more from his CB spot for a total of five INT’s. Feels he is one of the BEST CB’s the state of New Jersey has to offer … he also excels on the track.

18) Mark Longo Middletown South 6-1/195 Ath. – Longo may not be well-know yet … but this will change in due time. A very fluid and quick player – Longo has the ability to be one of the states top WR’s. He leaps high for the ball, utilizes his well-built frame to adjust to the ball and is determined to come down with the ball. On defense, Longo will line-up at CB where he will also utilize his 4.5 speed and his 38 inch vertical. He will get a lot of looks from top collegiate coaches …

19) Kyle Quinn Holmdel 6-4/300 OLM/DLM – Quinn is hearing from the likes of Duke, Minnesota , Penn, NC State and East Carolina . Has the ability and size to play on either side of the ball.

20) Scott Dotteriech Lacey Twp. 6-3/320 OLM – A massive OLM who has turned-up his level of play. Dotteriech has trained hard this past off-season in attempt to paving a way for brighter days for coach Lou Vircillo’s Lions. Dotteriech is being closely looked at by various Division I programs.  

21) Brian Tiscia Marlboro 6-3 ½ /280 OLM – In the past Tiscia has been known as one of the area’s top heavy-weight wrestlers … he wants to be known as the area’s top Offensive-lineman! In ’04 – Tiscia dished-out 30 pancake blocks for the Mustangs and has received interest from D1A and D1AA colleges including Monmouth, Hofstra, Rutgers and UConn.  

22) Joe Arneth Jackson 5-10/175 Ath.- Has super-soft hands and elusiveness. Can play DB or WR at the next level! Has great balance and hand-to-eye coordination. He hauled in close to 40 passes for more than 500 yards in ’04.

23) Daronne Prince Toms River East 5-10/170 WR/DB - Impressive WR who made a lot of things happen for the Raiders in 2004. Prince caught 20 balls for 409 yards. He possesses great hands and has a nice burst off the line to go along with them. As a DB – he is very fluid and covers very well … had two interceptions in ’04 along with more than 20 tackles.

24) Bryce Carter Freehold Boro 6-4/320 OLM - Benches well over 300 pounds! Carter was invited to the ’04 Elite College Combine - but an injury prohibited the recruit from attending ... a player who should make a better name for himself this fall. Has good athleticism for a player his size … moves well.

25) Thomas Ellis Long Branch 6-3.5/225 TE – Ellis has the talent and size to play for any college in the country. A player with superb size – athleticism …good hands … looks the ball in fairly well … should only get better as the season progresses.

26) Joe Cella Jackson 6-1/225 LB/FB Cella has good size and quickness. Recorded 114 tackles, 5 sacks, 3 forced-fumbles, 2 recovered-fumbles and intercepted a pass in ’04.  

27) Howard Barbieri Middletown South 6-5/290 OLM/DLM - Barbieri is a player who is on the rise. On a superb team and can easily add more mass to his long and wide frame. Moves well for a player on the high school level … will only get better as the season progresses. Plays DLM ... should end-up at OLM in college.

28) Mike Roberto Rumson Fair Haven 5-11 /190 QB - In '04 – he passed for 1,750 yards and 24 td's (with a 61% completion rate).  He also rushed for 500 yards and 6 td's!  

29) Matt Fitzpatrick Raritan 6-1/200 LB/FB - Powerful player who did well at the Elite College Combine ... recorded better than a 9 foot broad-jump and ran the 40 in the 4.6 range. Rushed for more than 1,300 yards in 2004. 

30) Trent MacCray Middletown South 5-8/185 RB  - When McCray hits the field - he puts in work. Compliments Moreno a great deal - the two in the backfield at the same time will cause havoc for any opposing team. He has quickness - vision - and superb cutting- ability … should make a name for himself in ’05 while recruiters are soaking-in the talents of Moreno .

31) Jon Reggio Jackson 5-8/170 RB– Reggio racked-up 1,333 yards on 265 carries in 2004. He utilized his shifty moves to get to the endzone 16 times last season.  

32) Ryan McGinness Howell 5-11.5/180 Athlete – McGinness is a player who has displayed his talents as a runner, receiver and defensive-back. As a runner he has good moves and shiftiness. As a defender – he likes to come up and punish the runner as a defensive-back. McGinness is also a good kick-returner who sets his blocks very well! A fundamentally sound player!

33) Andrew Mandeville Raritan 5-9/170 QB - ALLSTATE as a junior IN '04 – after throwing for just under 2,000 yards and 22 scoring strikes. Putting his size aside - this young man is a pure winner. Attended the Elite College Combine and threw the ball very well ... jumped more than 9 feet in the broad. Rushed for 300 yards and 11 scores in '04.

34) Chad Tirpak Wall 5-11/175 Athlete – Tirpak has been a leader and starter for the Knights since his sophomore year. As spectacular athlete who has good speed (4.6 forty) and the ability to play CB, RB, QB and return kicks. Fundamentally sound player who I really like as a corner or safety!

35) Cory Giddings Ocean Twp. 6-0/180 WR/DB – Giddings flourished as a WR last season as a sure-handed receiver who always made the difficult catch. A smoother runner Giddings can utilize his athleticism to play both sides of the ball. He has good defensive-back skills (5 interceptions in ’04) and runs his forty in the 4.5 range. Giddings returned a kick-off 63 yards for a score in ’04.

36) Francisco Gomez Long Branch 5-9/170 WR - Gomez has blazing speed and showed it at the Elite College Combine this spring. Gomez possesses some of the states best hands … he looks the ball in very well. Recorded a 4.3 pro-agility and just under a 9.5 in the broad at the combine.

37) John Canaley Brick Memorial 6-1/235 LB – Canaley is a player who roams the field from side-line to side-line. Recorded more than 60 tackles and also posted 3 sacks for the Mustangs. Looks even more impressive in 2005.

38) Shaun Gibbs Matawan 5-11/180 RB/DB – Gibbs has shared the reign at RB for the Huskies over the past two seasons … this year the athlete may be able to shine solo. Gibbs is a good runner who has quickness and vision. On defense, Gibbs is a good defensive-back …the position I see him playing at the collegiate level.

39) Robert Cheese Long Branch 5-8/180 – Cheese is the type of back anyone will want to have. He is a “hard worker” who leaves it all on the field. As far as speed – CHEESE HAS A LOT OF IT! As far as toughness and moves – he HAS BOTH TO SPARE! He is a very strong player who will run over or around a defender.

40) Rick Jaeger Raritan 6-2.5/230 TE/K – Jaeger was one of Mandeville’s main targets in ’04. Jaeger has soft hands, blocks well and comes off the line very strong - qualities that all productive TE’s must have. Jaeger is also one of the state’s most reliable kickers in the area.

41) Corey Wright Neptune 5-10/160 WR – Wright is a special talent at the receiver position. He has superb quickness and agility … to go along with some of the best hands the area has to offer. Can make a defender miss and has the ability to go up high for the ball. Had 13 receptions for 200 yards and 3 scores in ’04 … also excels on the track.

42) Nick Dura Middletown North 5-7/180 RB/DB - Dura rushed for 850 yards (2 TDS) in 7 games as a sophomore - and 1,623 yards (17 TDS) in 10 games as a junior. Has superb quickness and balance … hits the hole in a hurry with good power.

43) Paul Lewis Long Branch 5-11.5/180 Ath. – Lewis has good speed, size and athleticism. He can carry the ball as a RB or catch it as a receiver coming out of the backfield. Younger brother of former Asbury Park standout – Ron Lewis.

44) Adam Mancino Wall 5-10/170 CB – Mancino is a good CB who was able to take six passes away from opposing offenses last season. Mancino has good recovery speed and seems to place himself in the right spot at the right time.

45) Eric Daneman Middletown South 5-10/165 DB - Daneman was an ALL CONFERENCE selection in 2004. Has good coverage ability and seems to find the ball better and faster than many players.

46) Jared Brabham Long Branch 6-2/295 DLM – Brabham has excelled in '04 on the field (more than 70 tackles, 7 sacks, 2 forced fumbles, 1 recovered and a INT) and in the classroom (3.2 GPA Honors student).

47) Rick Corpron Pinelands 6-2/230 DLM/OLM - Corpron shined on the offensive and defensive lines in 2004. Tough player who never takes a play off! Corpron has the size to play on the line on the high school level – but projects more as a linebacker for the collegiate level.

48) Matt Walsh Middletown South 5-11/170 QB/DB – Is a ‘PURE ATHLETE’ who can play numerous positions. Filled in nicely at QB when the time came for him to do so and will have the full-time job in '05 ... HAS VERY GOOD SPEED...

49) Chris Chittum Ocean Twp. 5-9/185 RB – Chittum is a quick and powerful runner. He has good enough speed to get through a seam and the speed to take it to the outside for a score or a long gain. Has good movement and superb vision which is what he used in ’04 to carry the ball 152 times for more than 1,000 yards.

OTHERS TO WATCH

Drew Battone Point Boro 6-2/260 DLM – A very athletic lineman … has been starting for the Panther’s since his sophomore year … A VERY PHYSICAL PLAYER.

Joe D’Amato Brick Memorial 6-1/250 C/DLM – D’Amato is an impressive player who shines on both sides of the ball. As a center he is one of the best around … and will also showcase his talents of the defensive side of the ball.

Miguel Encarnacion Long Branch 5-7/160 CB – The Green Wave will rely on a nucleus of veteran players and Encarnacion is a leader of the pack. A PURE-COVER CB, he excels in stopping the pass and run. Picked-off two passes in ’04 and three more in ’03.

Ryan Gross Southern Reg. 6-2.5/220 OLM/DLM – One of the top student-athletes in the state of New Jersey . Gross has good football skills to go along with his ability to being one of the top students in his class. Was an All Shore selection in’04 as an OLM.

Rondell Lewis Toms River North 5-11/173 DB/WR – Lewis is a player who will be a weapon and force on the defensive and offensive sides of the ball. Provides the Mariners with good speed and all-around ability.

Nick Lucarelli Red Bank Catholic 5-9/230 Kicker – Lucarelli lines-up at center for the Caseys – but his kicking talents have placed him on this list. Strong leg and effective technique.

Kevin Keelan Middletown North 5-11/180 QB/Ath - Only posted 3 catches for 60 yards and a score as a WR in ’04 ... but things will liven-up in ’05. A former Mater Dei stand-out, Keelan will showcase PURE ATHLETICSM as a QB and DB for the Lions.

Andrew Mason Red Bank Catholic 6-4/245 DLM/OLM – Mason is a long – rangy player who utilizes his toughness on the defensive and offensive lines. Mason has the frame to play various positions for the Caseys and at the collegiate level.

Amir Martin Freehold Twp. 5-8.5/190 RB/DB – Martin plays with a combination of speed, strength and vision. Martin can turn a corner or run over a defender as a runner and as a defensive-back – he excels with his quickness and ability of play good-tight coverage on receivers.

John Pizarro Keyport 6-2/270 OLM/DDLM – Pizarro will once again be a force for the Red Raiders on both sides of the ball. He is a good-sized LM with the ability to play any position on the line.

Mike Purnell Keyport 5-9/170 RB/DB – Keyport will rely on the legs of Purnell in ’05. He has a blend of speed and the ability to shift gears in a hurry. Kenny Cattouse is now the starting TB at Troy , Daquan Cross has recently departed and know Purnell will get his time to shine for the Red Raiders.

John Reach Point Boro 6-2/250 LB – Reach is a BIG linebacker who possesses the speed of some defensive-backs. He roams the field superbly with his 4.7 speed!

Mike Schoch Jackson 6-4/235 TE – Schoch is a player college recruiters will watch blossom into a D1A prospect. He has the size and hands that are necessities to play the TE position at the next level.

Nyle Sterling Red Bank Regional 6-2/175 WR Sterling has a long frame which enables him to out-jump defenders … he has good speed and will be the BUCS main target in ’05. Not well known on the recruiting radar as of yet … but should become a household name very soon.

Brennan Sullivan Red Bank Regional 6-2/230 LB - Sullivan is receiving looks from colleges after posting 51 tackles and 9 quarterback pressures in ’04. Has the size and intensity to play for many of the nations D1A programs … he is out to prove just that in ’05.
